WPHC started their premiership defence off with a convincing 110 run victory.

A slow start with the bat was quickly rectified with a 100 run partnership between captain James Makin (83) and Ronan Barret (50).

The pair were rarely troubled by the Berowa attack on the batting friendly Greenway Oval. They seemed settled from the moment they joined each other from the crease.

The innings was finshed off nicely by James Fielder and Tim Rae. The latter returned to the field after suffering a bleeding nose from a miss guided dive into his crease.

Matt Jobson and Scott Henderson took wickets in their opening overs to immediatelty put Berowa on the back foot. Jobson finished with a lazy 3/18 picking up right were he left off last season.

A great result to start the season although we do expect a lot of improvement from Berowa next time around.
