Seniors C Result - Round 14, 2006-2007

We did it – made the Semi’s with a big win over 2nd placed Glenhaven and seeing Hornsby go down to St Ives. Just looking at the St Ives game they were 8/98 chasing 120.

We have now won our last 4 games and go into the Semi’s as the best performed team, on form, in C1. So we have confidence but no overconfidence and need to have the mindset of being the underdog as we finished 20 points behind the Minor Premier.

In a real turn-up, while St Ives won, Beecroft have come from nowhere and won the Minor Premiership with an outright win over Normanhurst so we now play Beecroft.

Back on to our game. It was one of the best all-round games we have played all season. Week one we did everything right in the batting, even to the extent of hanging around in the rain to get the opportunity to score an extra 100 runs after we came back. On to week 2. Again, we did everything right. Batting for 6overs we put on 20 to give us a more than competitive 9/234.

We started perfectly. Andrew picked up their gun bat in the 1st over with a good catch to Nathan and we kept picking up wickets at regular intervals. Everyone bowled very well with Patrick getting another 2 wickets with Kishore and Chris. John Mitchell chipped in again with a wicket that saw us roll them for 139.

What was especially pleasing is that our fielding was on song. Nathan was superb, taking 3 catches and a stumping. The main area for improvement is the number of no balls being bowled. This match a couple of catches went in the air off no balls so a definite opportunity for improvement.

We did all this also with Tony Hadley who was stuck at Perth Airport and had to follow the game by text.

The only disappointment is that Dave Consalvi, who has been a tremendous team player this season won’t be playing in the Semi’s due to Uni commitments. Spare a thought for the big fella, not only is he a loss but his presence in the team is also a big loss.

So next week we play Beecroft at Hassle Park for the right to play in the Final. bring it on.
