Seniors C Result - Round 14, 2006-2007

This is the crunch game for us – one we have to win and then rely on Hornsby either drawing or losing to St Ives – a big chance of both results with all games being rain and lightning affected. Looking at the ‘Form Guide’ on the website we are the form side in C1 and also the club.

Playing 2nd placed Glenhaven, this is a game we have to win. Still a lot to do but we are well placed to push this result. Batting first it was very difficult in steamy conditions at a ground (Gilroy) that had no air circulating and was stifling. John and Ross A put on yet another solid start – 34 in good time. John is developing into a rock that can’t be moved and started to show some good forcing shots. We are now getting off to consistently good starts that is establishing a solid platform for the batting fire power to follow.

After the opening partnership, something unusual happened – Kishore, John Nesbitt and Nathan all went quickly leaving us teetering at 5/114 before the rain break. But….what has happened since Christmas, someone put their hand up and performed. Led by Tony Hadley, who deferred his flight to Perth, just in case we could get back on, scored a fabulous 59. Chris Collits had to leave to go to a wedding but stayed around long enough to smash 36. Enter Bryce who came in with bad light and the need to keep the momentum moving and he did wonderfully well with 27*.

Every game was rain affected so the fact that we got back on gives a tremendous advantage by allowing us to bat on next week for a shorter time than would otherwise have been required.

There is still a lot to do with Glenhaven’s strength being their batting. Whatever happens next weekend we will give this a real shot and will finish the season with a powerful finish.

Breaking news
Just got the scores through form the Hornsby game and they look like going down. They only scored 120 - a score st Ives should reel in easily. This means that if we win then we go through - it is now that simple - assuming of course that St Ives win.
