Seniors C Result - Round 13, 2006-2007

The roll continues. Winning the toss we batted on another warm day against a side with one of the better bowling attacks (ours excluded ofcourse). We continued the form that we have now shown consistently over the 3 games with a powerful batting performance finishing with 304.

John Nesbitt (87) and Nathan Fathers (49) continued their rich vein of form with outstanding batting. John especially who was dangerous with anything short. But everyone made a contribution. John and Ross put on 43 but importantly shut out the sharp opening attack for 17 overs and took the edge of their attack. Kishore then got a good 20 odd followed by Tony (David) Hadley’s contribution with John and Nathan putting on 112 runs in partnership. Follow this up with good contributions from Andrew and Chris we showed why, if we can make the Semi’s we will be a real force. Only Bryce missed out to a very good catch – the second time in 2 innings. Your luck will change mate. What impressed most was the way we scored the runs. There was a toughness in the approach that showed an ability to do the hard stuff – very important in big games.

We only had 2 overs at them and they finished at 0/6. The Normo attack is good but ours has shown throughout the year that it is probably the best in the Competition. My guess is that with relentless pressure from our outstanding quicks to our quality spinners we will cause a bit of damage to their batting – time will tell though.

Next steps
We still need to keep winning and improve our quotient – the weekend was a good result. If we can roll them cheaply and then have a second bite to get more wickets this will also improve our quotient big time. What matters ofcourse is that we need Hornsby, who is 6 points in front of us to lose at least one of their 2 games (they are playing 1st and 2nd placed teams) and damage their quotient.
