Seniors C Result - Round 6, 2006-2007
We are building nicely, winning our 2nd straight game and doing it well. It is one thing to win, it is another to do it comprehensively with everyone making a contribution and doing it well. Last week we got a good 1st inning score of 238 with the contribution by Andrew and Bryce at the end giving us that platform.
This week our turn to bowl. Pat and Mark opened the bowling and looked good with wickets falling regularly. We had them 2/10 and 4/43 and were cruising. At 5/87 Normo looked gone until they had a good partnership that needed to be broken – it was dangerous. Enter Pat who got their hitter out with the support by a super catch by David Consalvi in the deep.
In the en we just kept taking wickets regularly and the momentum continually built up our way. We are starting to fire and you can feel the confidence in the team building. we will have the odd bat day but there is a positive feel.
There were many highlights:
• Andrew was easily player of the match with 59* and 2 important wickets
• our catching was very good – 7 catches and only 2 tough ones missed
• batting was OK. We got a good start, lost it for a while and then came back. The order looks about right with a strong late middle order. If we get a good start we will get good scores consistently. The start is the important part
• Our bowling continues to impress. Patrick is just getting better every match. Mark will get wickets if catches are held and Andrew can blast the opposition away on his day. Added to this the 2 best slow bowlers in the Comp with Kish and Chris this is a good base
Thanks heaps to the Colts boys – Matt Phipson, Matt Scoular, David, Nick who were outstanding. Their fielding added a lot.
Next week we have a big game against Glenhaven but we also have Kish, Tim, John and Nathan coming back. Should be a competitive game.
