At last, we are starting to get a roll. We know we can bat well but so far have only done this in the 2nd innings trying to save games. This time, even with John, Kishore and Nathan away we got to 240 against a side with a couple of good bowlers – the opener especially who took 8/57 from 25 overs. While Campbell Park is a small ground square it was slow in parts with long grass so if the ground is not cut this week it will add to the total. They will have to bat well to get the runs.

We did we well. The highlight was the consistent partnership and good scores scattered throughout the innings. Ross A with a chanceless 40 is continuing some good form and combined with Matt Phipson (this bloke has talent) to put on 70 odd for the 2nd wicket gave us a good platform. Matt Scoluar with 25 also looked the goods. At 5/120 soon after Tea we could have either crashed or pushed on.

Bryce backed up his 57* with another good score – 36. The good part about this is that he never once looked in trouble. Batting at number 6 he also gives us stability and great batting maturity. Enter Bryce and Birthday Boy Andrew. They were superb. Andrew pulverized the bowling to belt 59. Included in this were 4 sixers including a massive shot over the long boundary against an unfortunate spinner. We are now getting the batting right with a strong order, provided we get off to a solid start. Our bowling is one of the best in the Comp but our catching…get this right and we will be a force.

We will have to bowl well to win this one but we have a more than competitive score and will push this one hard.

Finally, thanks to the Colts guys who helped us out – Matt Phipson, Matt Scoular and nick Bennett. These young blokes are real talents and it is great to have you on board.
