Seniors A2 Result - Round 3, 2006-2007
Les Shore 1 - vs. Galston Glenorie 07/10/2006 & 14/10/2006
Result - WPHCCC 261 (M Banner 48 , A Driscoll 67 , J Blackmore 30 , K Triebe 3/58 , R Bartlett 3/47) drew with Galston Glenorie 7/231 (M Middleton 70 , M Tully 70* , J Makin 4/49)
Day 1:
We always look forward to the matches against Galston Glenorie and won the toss and batted. On a warm day a good start was crucial to post a good total against a strong batting side. After an early wicket we moved passed 50 with no further wickets until a collapse. Volcano played some nice shots to recover the team total but fell just before a half century (48). Just before the tea break we lost 2 wickets in 2 balls and were 7/133 at the break. Voice was joined in the middle by Flanders (promoted from 11 by Voice) who set out to block out one end while Voice used the willow at the other. Flanders had the best seat in the house while Voice piled on the runs off the GG fast bowler and spinner. Voice brought up his 50 and batted until just before tea for a fine 67 (his 2nd highest score). James Blackmore (30) then took over from Voice and with Flanders (22*) continued to frustrate the opposition. Macca came in and bludgeoned a couple of 6's and the team finished on 261.
Day 2:
Bowling on a 38 degree day against a batting side was going to be tough or so we thought. Top bowling early by Jamaican and Macca had GG in all sorts of trouble at 4/20. Brad Hingle then joined in on the act with 2 wickets and at drinks GG were 6/40. The opposition dug in with M Middleton and M Tully at the crease , the bowling attack changed and a chance went down in the deep off Flanders spin , GG batted through to tea 6/85 approx. Voice fired up the team at the break but the much needed wicket was elusive , the fielding dropped off in the heat and GG started to increase the run tempo up to drinks. Jamaican took his 4th wicket when he removed Middleton (70) after drinks but GG held on for a frustrating draw finishing on 7/233.
Notes
- Volc fined for not scoring for first 7 overs.
- Flanders fined for batting over 2 hours with his cricket pants on the wrong way.
- This honestly happened.......Boony 'ran' drinks out on to the field and later filled in on the field on the Day 2 scorcher.
The team is improving however this is a game that shouldn't have got away from us. Bring on next match.
