Seniors C3 Result - Round 6, 2004-2005

Penno 2 - vs. St Ives 20/11/2004 & 27/11/2004

Day 1 - Herc won the toss and with the wet conditions & bowled first. Fabian Boldt had success straight away with a caught behind followed by another wicket taken by Mark Foxton at a close cover. Lloyd Neill was bowling exceptionally well and took the 3rd wicket with a catch behind. At 20 over drinks , St Ives 3/30.
St Ives were trying to survive against Lloyd's outswing but it was David Consalvi removing the St Ives capatain with a clean bowled. Lloyd had 3 chances go down in about 2 overs but then had another wicket caught behind by Greg Lang. St Ives were 5 down but had their season best 2 bats still at the crease. Herc removed Theo Crane with a catch taken by Hiral at silly mid off and when Josh finally got a change once Lloyd finished his mammoth spell of 17 overs clean bowled the new bat. St Ives 7/76 at tea.
The first ball back , Herc removed the next bat taken brilliantly by Greg Lang at keeper , his 4th catch for the day. Some quick hitting led to a few runs until Josh removed the number 10 with a short ball brilliantly taken by David COnsalvi at square leg which was travelling. With St Ives one player down , they closed all out for 94.

WPHC started well but streakily with Robert Trieste and Hiral Mistry. Hiral was out bowled for 3 with the off and leg stumps removed. Josh who has been our rock played on for 2 and when Robert went for 18 , WPHC were 3/30. Mark Foxton who turned the corner last game scored a quck fire 15 until he was caught with gully running backwards. Braden Hall batted solidly and with maturity to take the WPH innings to 4/69 at stumps. Braden is normally a fast scoring batsman but with the team needing some stability , he took on a more watchful stance and has put the team in a good position to win our first game of the season since the drastic team changes after r1.
WPHC 4/69 vs. St Ives 94.

Day 2 was a hot day , resuming at 4/69 WPH were in the driving seat with St Ives only with 9 players early. Braden continued his mature approach and looked likely to reach the 1st innings total with Herc until the captain was caught at a close square leg. Greg Lang with Braden brought up the win , Greg out playing a pull shot caught behind. Matthew Caristo came in and ran 2x2's and a single in the over! He was needing a drink and he got one shortly with a delivery getting through his defences.
Braden had been playing some terrific shots and was out caught just short of a half century (48). Well played mate , wouldnt have got this win without your responsible innings! David Consalvi was out to a half track spinner c&b and when Fabian Boldt was caught , the innings was finished on 127 with still about 52 overs to bowl in the heat.
WPHC opened with Fabian and Herc's spin. However , it was David Consalvi who got the first wicket with a clear run out. The batsman had been out before with a direct hit from Braden at square leg , one of 2 run out's given not out. St Ives were scoring fast and Lloyd came into the attack and with his first ball removed the other openner with a plumb LBW. Matt Caristo took a catch off Herc's bowling in close and St Ives were around 3/60. This is as good as it got with fatigue setting in , St Ives were 3/170 at close of play with a few batsmen having a trundle trying to promote their claim for a further bowl this season.
WPHC 127 (B Hall 48) def St Ives 94 & 3/170 - our first win since round 1 - CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!
