West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930

Round 1 - what a start

Round 1 is now complete.

There have been some fantastic achievements:
+ Well done to Kishore (C1 Blue Captain) who got the team together before the start of the game to run through our Code of behaviour - it went down really well with the team winning outright in a most enjoyable spirit.
+ of the 11 teams 8 won. It could even be better with A1 starting next week and no scores being received in the C1 red or D2 games. The winners are:
+ A1 - starts next week
+ A2
+ B1 - outright
+ B2
+ C1 Blue - outright by 2.30pm on day 2!
+ C1 Red - ?
+ C2 Blue
+ C2 Red - won first innings then losing outright
+ C3 - outright
+ D1 - outright
+ D2 ?
+ Our 4 outright wins is a Club record in a Round
+ Michael O'Grady's 165 in D1 is the equal 11th highest score in the Club with the best being 225 by Ken Smith in the 1951/52 season. t was also the 286th century in the Seniors
+ Chris Rae scored his first ton (105*) playing C2's - our 287th centurt
+ Steve Quanborough in his first match as Captain (C3) clocked up an outright win and scored 31*. Steve is an outstanding bowler but is not well known for his batting (having scored 166 runs in 49 previous innings) so well done mate
+ Ross Anderson scored his 6,000th run for te Club - the highest aggregate in our history
+ Greg Fiedler set a record unlkely to be beaten in many years - he made his D Grade debut - after serving a 22 year apprenticeship in A1 Grade
+ Of more note - James Fiedler (Greg's U14 son) took a wicket with his first ball in Seniors - bowling the Opposition player - well done James. His father's (Greg) debut achievement 22 years ago was being bowled first ball. Problem his next innings was also a golden - go James - let's repeat history again.
+ Bill Peterkin (B1) was cleaned up during pre-season practice by a Chris boyd thunderbolt. After a tentative start against a bouncer when opening in B1 on the weekend he put the next 3 either to the fence or out of the ground - go for it super star!!
+ In A2, Luke Quinlivan, winner of our utstanding Prospect Award last Year when playing made his A2 debut with a classy 37
+ Finally, special mention to Chris Thorburn who makes his A1 debut next week with the reigning Premiers. Chris is just 16 and with Daniel Ward is the youngest player to be seleceted in A Grade for our Club.
