Welcome Firstly a very warm welcome to all D1 players, especially those who are new to the club this year. Let's hope this is a successful and, above all, an enjoyable season of cricket for all of us. Off to a Flying Start Those who were in the team last Saturday will know what a great start to the season we had. Winning the toss and batting we are 9-256 against St Ives going into Week 2 with Chris Milojevic not out on 90, so we're certainly in the box seat if our bowlers can capitalise on the strong position our batsmen have put us in. Congrats to all those who contributed: Chris, still going on 90, Faisal, a heroic half century and Bruce batting beautifully for 27. Another good omen: every one of us got off the mark: well done! Registration Fees Please note that club registration fees are due to be paid by the end of Round 1 (this coming Saturday). Fees paid after Saturday will automatically increase by $50, so please make sure your payment is in on time. The standard rego fee is $250, school students pay $200. Payment can be effected online: see our club website (www.wphccc.org) for details, and I will receive any cash or cheque payments you wish to bring to the match on Saturday. Anyone who is paying later or will have difficulty meeting the deadline should contact me before the end of this week so that alternative arrangements can be put in place. Net Practice Net practice at this time of year, before daylight saving comes into force, is not easy to arrange (our club nets at the Sports Club on New Line Rd, Cherrybrook are available for seniors after 5.30 p.m. on Wednesdays and 5.00p.m. on Thursdays. Anyone interested and able to get to net practice should speak to Roger or me on Saturday so we can see if something can be arranged at a time to suit those who can do it. Missing Person Alert: Mark Hennessey Mark, to misquote Pauline Hanson, if you are reading this then you are still alive and (hopefully!) still looking to play cricket with us. We could not get through to you before Round 1, but we hope you may yet be available for future rounds. Can you please get in touch with us (Peter 9875 3961, or Roger 9899 5232) so we know if you are still going to be available. If your circumstances have changed and you find you cannot play this season it is equally important that you contact us so we can arrange for another player to make up our squad: we can't keep your place in the team open indefinitely. Please get in touch! Round 2 At this stage we are scheduled to play Berowra at Arcadia in Round 2 (Sats 27th Sep & 4th Oct, 1.00 p.m. start).
