West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club
Kanga Cricket Season 2004/2005
Number 2/2004

Thank You to all Managers, Assistant Managers, Coaches and Assitant Coaches for the guidance you are giving to the Kangas each Saturday. It is not easy trying to impart skills that are difficult for older players let alone the youngest players in the Club. The parents and boys appreciate your efforts.

PHOTOGRAPHS
A reminder that Team Photographs will be taken on Saturday 27th November. Each team will be photographed so please have the Kangas looking ‘spic and span’. Teams will be called one at a time so you are asked to have the players at Edward Bennett Oval on time on the morning of the photographs. Managers and coaches will be photographed with each time so try to be there and also on time.

COACHES
There will be a once only meeting for coaches this Saturday (20th November) at 9.00am. This will be an opportunity to share what is working and what might not be working with each other. The opportunity to share your ideas can lead to a better experience for the Kangas as we assist one another in striving to make the game of cricket more meaningful and exciting for the youngsters.

TWILIGHT KANGA CRICKET
We will hold our own twilight meeting on 11th December at Edward Bennett Oval. A picnic occasion commencing at 6.00pm and continuing until the ball is no longer visible. Lots of fun will be had with out teams playing against each other – with lots of parental involvement. There is one barbeque at EB so please bring your own portable and share with others on the evening. I am sure the Kngas will look forward to the challenge of playing their parents on the evening. (P.S. I prefer Verdhelo to Chardonnay!)

DADS’ CHALLENGE
There is a possibility of a challenge by the Kanga Dads to a ‘Select’ team of over 35’s from the senior club. We have had plenty of dads put their hand up for this opportunity relive some of their past glory – and Ross Anderson is quite in favour. Time and place to be advised, but probably on a Sunday early in February.

SPORTS CLUB MEMBERSHIP
We are still inviting applications for the Sports Club Membership. Ask your team manager for a form – and don’t forget to tick the ‘Cricket’ and “WPHCCC’ as your interest.

DOMINIC’S VISIT A GREAT SUCCESS
Dominic’s visit to the Kangas was a great success and most exciting for the kidsand parents. Go the Club website to see the pictures taken on the morning. If you would like a copy of a photograph please speak to Peter Burke regarding which photograph you might like.

WET WEATHER PROCEDURE
A reminder that in the case of wet weather a final decision will be made at 7.30am. If at all possible the games will go ahead, however if the morning needs to be cancelled managers will be phone who will in turn phone the first name on the list and so on. This has worked well in the past and hopefully will continue to work successfully.

KANGAS IMPROVE
Our Kangas are improving rapidly and many are starting to pick up the finer points such as running between wickets. After discussion with the next age group we would like to see a little extra concentration on bowling, as this is one of the more difficult skills for Kangas.

OWZAT!
