Junior Girls U13 Red Result - Round 13, 2008-2009
WPHCCC RED lost the toss and was forced to bat first. The RED team was happy with this decision as it allowed other players to have a rest and be refreshed for the bowling spell. However, the RED team lost its first wicket with only three runs on the board and things were not looking good. Luckily, Anthea and Georgia W remained stable for a few overs to steady the score.
Unfortunately, Georgia W got out for 9 and we again needed someone to stabilize the score. It was Charlotte who came to bat and no one knew what a stunning performance it would be. Anthea and Charlotte put on a really steady partnership of 50. Well done to Charlotte for scoring 12 runs and Anthea who scored 17. Both showed stamina and courage throughout the day.
When it came to the second innings of play, our team knew that the fielding and bowling had to be kept tight in order to win the game. Anthea (wicketkeeper) took a brilliant run-out to dismiss the BLUE team’s opening batsman. This was a much needed confidence booster. Congratulations to Felicity (1/4) and Sajani (1/8) for having the best bowling figures of the day. Also, well done to Dasuni, Cara, Georgia D and Eshana for great fielding performances. We played the full 20 overs and had restricted the BLUE team to 5 for 61.
The RED team are now in the semi-finals, so hopefully we can look forward to a resulted of this kind next week.

Great win girls!
We will be playing in a Semi Final next week and I am very excited.
I will be sending further communication in next few days regarding who and where we will be playing the semi final this Saturday.
Training is on Thursday and remember we will need to focus on our batting and fielding (especially stopping those singles).
Regards,
John Trinh
