Junior Girls U13 Red Result - Round 10, 2008-2009

Edwina's report
WPHCCC RED lost the toss and was forced to bat first as the pitch was slightly damp after the wet weather conditions this morning. We were 2/31 in the 9th over and it was from here that the score started to look steadier as Anthea and Dasuni controlled their batting well and created numerous opportunities for quick singles. However, WPHCCC were 6/65 at the end of the 18th over which only increased our determination to continue. Our final partnership consisting of Anthea (25 runs) and Georgia D (2 runs) allowed us to have completed the 20 overs. Well done to Georgia W (17 runs) and Anthea for a great batting performance showing stamina, determination and skill.

When it came time for us to bowl, we knew that we had a challenge ahead of us. Felicity and Dasuni opened the bowling attack with great ferocity and kept it very tight so that Castle Hill was 2/14 at the end of six difficult overs. Well done to Anthea, Dasuni and Georgia D for 4 excellent combined catches which put WPHCCC back in the game. Also, Charlotte, Eshana, Sajani and Cara were fielding and bowling brilliantly which put us in good stead for this game and will no doubt be crucial if we are to win this season. The best bowling figures were held by Felicity (2/9) and Edwina (2/15)

It was a great victory for the WPHCCC RED team because Castle Hill remained undefeated (for the 2008/09 season) up until today’s match. Congratulations to all who played on both teams. Special thanks to both John Trinh (team manager) and John Steel (coach) for their constant encouragement, support and guidance.
