Junior Girls U13 Red Result - Round 9, 2008-2009

Edwina's Report
WPHCCC RED lost the toss for the first time this season and Hornsby elected to bat due to the hot weather conditions and the dry surface of the pitch. Luckily, the RED team was able to use that to their advantage. The team was also down two players so Anthea took on the wicket keeping role for the first seven overs and adapted very well to her new fielding position.

The RED team started bowling with brilliant effort as Dasuni got a great wicket in the first over and only gave away two runs. The team morale was lifted in the 5th over when Dasuni struck again. There were also some great catches from Anthea and Edwina. The RED team gave away a total of 23 sundries which is a vast improvement from last season. Congratulations to Charlotte for taking her first wicket for 2009 and Dasuni for having the best bowling figure (2/7). Well done to Georgia D, Esh and Cara for a much improved fielding performance.

When it came to batting, the weather had improved slightly and we were ready to take on Hornsby’s score of 42. However, runs were hard to come by and it was the middle order that formed some vital partnerships that allowed us to eventually win the game. A good batting effort from Georgia W as she scored 11 runs and remained batting for a number of overs.

Considering the weather conditions, WPHCCC RED performed brilliantly and will look forward to hopefully having the same winning result in the next few games.
