Junior Girls U13 Red Result - Round 5, 2008-2009
WPHCCC won the toss and elected to field first.
Unfortunately, the wind was too strong (approx. 70km), throwing our bowling off. Nothing was helping until after the drinks break, when a breakthrough run-out by Dasuni steadied the ship. After that, Cara took the first wicket lifting the spirits. Not after more than an over or so, Georgia W and Felicity's plan finally succeeded after many failed attempts, bringing a brilliant 'run-out' from long stop. That lifted the teams' enthusiasm. At the end of the innings, Hornsby ended up with 4 out scoring 136 runs.
It seemed what like an impossible task, but still our batsmen were determined to prove the impossible to become possible.
Ahead of us was a long rocky road, with Georgia W and Anthea opening the batting. We were on a roll until the first wicket fell. Georgia W retired after scoring a fast 20, with Felicity following a retirement not long after. In the last two overs, Both of our retired batsmen went back in for a slogging for the bowlers. Unfortunately, after the 20 overs, our team were unable to reach the total, only making it to 106 runs.

---------------Great Report Felicity----------------------------------
We'll be playing Gordon next week at James Henty, yes, for the third time.
Things to work on this week at training is:
1. 57 SUNDRIES - far too many - yes caused by the wind!
2. Bowling , accuracy not speed
3. Fielding - Get down on your knees, body behind the ball. Be alert when on the field and walking in with the bowler.
Well done to Cara she have got her first wicket.
3 players will be away this week and we will be playing with 7 players and I have asked if we can borrow a player from the blue team.
