What a fabulous effort by everyone in the Team to win our first game of the season.

Batting first in this 1-dayer we scored a big 5/153 in our 32 overs. We had a lot of good partnerships that set us up for a big win. We set our targets this year about how every player can improve on their performances and this is happening. A win just makes it that much easier.

In the bowling we had made a big strike in the first over when James had one of their top bats caught behind by Ben. After they were 5/35 the match was always in our keeping.

Highlights for the match were:

Batting:
John’s 50 ret (6x 4’s) and outstanding running between wickets some very cheeky singles also.
Also we had 4 other batsman reach double figures - Darcy 20, Sid 15, Arjun 13 & Harry 10.

Best Partnership of the Match Darcy & John with 57 followed by Arjun & Sid with 30.

Bowling:
Harry 4-2-2-2 (Excellent bowling performance with two maidens)
Sid 4-1-8-2
Arjun 3-1-8-2
James 4-1-6-1
Joel 3-0-7-1

Catching:
Ben our w/keeper took 2 sharp catches behind the wickets. One beauty of Arjun’s bowling!!!
John – absolute screamer – he is our AB De Villiers in the field.
Arjun – diving forward of Joel’s bowling and now thinks he is Yuvraj Singh in the field!
Owen – Solid catch at silly cover point of Harry’s bowling

Three were bowled of Sid, Harry & Arjun’s bowling!

John’s highlights
· Winning for a change was really good
· We bowled really well with everyone bowling straight and not too many wides and no balls. It was good to see Daniel bowl his best spell of the season
· Our catching was much better this time after our last match and thus is why we won the match
· Everyone tried in the field which makes it easier on everyone else
· Getting their opening batter out in the first over helped us to win us our match

Our next match is against Pennant Hills at Pennant Hills High School after the school holidays on Saturday 31st January 2009!
