Junior Boys U12 Blue Result - Round 4, 2008-2009

After 4 Rounds while we are still looking for our first win we showed a very good foundation for the rest of the season. Playing against Hornsby at Thomas Thomson we there was a lot to be satisfied about.

Week 1
A warm day with a fast outfield and the potential for a big score. Hornsby batted first and finished at 5/231. Arjun was the star with the ball taking 3/15. Arie was got his first ever wicket, clean bowling one of the Hornsby batters to get 1/15. Jonty also took a wicket with 1/34 from 5 overs. We had a really good spell where John 1/8 from 8 overs and Arjun 3/15 from 7 overs brought the run rate to a trickle for 10 overs.

We continue to catch very well with a great effort by Jed at Slip in one of the catches of the season.

Week 2
A different week – cool, wet and a slower outfield. The Hornsby early attack was very good with some Rep players causing early damage on a wet wicket that was skidding and keeping low.

After being 5/17 we recovered very well to finish at 155 which is a very good effort against this good side.

Raj’s comments
• John Anderson’s 62 – (7 x 4’s) highest for the match and I think second best batting score in the U’12 competition with 71 the highest
• Darcy Ward 21 – with one mammoth 6 and 2 x4’s
• 66 run partnership between Darcy & John.
• 38 run partnership between Sid & John.

The partnerships were very good. It was especially good to see Darcy and Sid get well forward and not back away. Their batting gave them good reward for their efforts.

Also good was our running between wickets that got us a lot of runs.

If we can continue to see our experienced players build partnerships and our new players get experience batting with these players we will continue to improve. This season is about how much we can improve rather than how many games we win or lose.

Next match
Our next match is against Kissing Point at Cliff Oval, Wahroonga.
