Junior Boys U14 Blue Result - Round 3, 2008-2009

What a game against a Team we always seem to have close games against – Hornsby. This match we played against the Hornsby Green Team who are a really good side at Glenhaven which is slow.

Week 1
We batted first against a good bowling attack and got to 117. After being 4/15 this was a good comeback after some very good bowling by Tim. DA scored 68* and got good support from Pranav 12. What was really good was the way everyone made a contribution either with runs or by staying around to contribute to partnerships.

Each week we are seeing batters improve on either the number of runs they score and/or the number of balls they have faced. As a team we are getting good scores because of everyone’s contribution. Last week the runs against balls faced was:

• DA- 68* runs off 115 balls
• James A- 2 runs (11 balls)
• Ronic- 2 runs (14 balls)
• Eric- 2 runs (6 balls)
• Angus- 3 runs (14 balls)
• Matt- 5 runs (7 balls)
• Chris- 0 runs (5 balls)
• Hazza- 0 runs (1 ball)
• Sid- 7 runs (18 balls)
• Pranav - 12 runs (49 balls)
• Ryan- 0 runs (3 balls)

Week 2
What a finish – yet another one against Hornsby that so often go down to the last over. After having them in trouble they fought back and at the end had 3 to tie with 2 wickets in hand and we got them. Our bowling and fielding is our strength so we never gave up hope.

Sid did it again with his 4/18 and got great support from Angus 0/6 off 3 overs, Matt 1/8, Ryan 2/8 and DA 2/7.

We know our batting will come together when we keep building on these partnership but our bowling is the best in the competition. So far we are taking a wicket every 10.70 runs which is the best in the competition with only Pennant Hills (12.67) better than us. If we can hold this and improve our batting that averages 16.76 per wicket we will be even stronger.

Next match
We play Castle Hill White at Gilroy College.
