U13®

After a close loss to Pennant Hills last week we are back in the Competition big time with an Outright win over the Green’s who tried hard but were missing a few players after our game was moved to an afternoon time slot.

Day 1
After winning the toss, we bowled first and rolled the Green’s for 23. Chris and Angus opened the bowling with some tight and accurate bowling and they picked up a few wickets as well. Sid and James bowled very well taking 7 or 8 of their wickets through sheer pace from Sid who was hitting 105 kph-115kph at times and James bowling accurately and applying pressure and taking wickets. Our fielding was great, in particular, Pranav’s catch at point that got their best batsman out. Also Cal’s run out from near the boundary. Hazza also took a good catch at slip. Our batting was good with some good hitting from James, Pranav, Ryan, Hazza and DA put us in a good position to put them in and get the outright on day 1. Cal was unlucky but looked good out there. We opened the bowling with Ryan and Cal who bowled very well with a few quick wickets. Then DA and Sid came on and bowled very accurately and took a few wickets. Hazza and Angus bowled the last overs of the day.

Day 2
With wet weather around we wanted to get the 10 points quickly in case we were washed out. Hazza and Chris started off the day well with some tight bowling. Then Matt and Sid came on and knocked off a few wickets. Then DA came on with Sid and bowled the best we have ever bowled together taking 8 of the 10 wickets between us. Ronic had a good over at the end with a close caught behind chance. I have never seen Sid bowl so fast and accurately and I have never been in such good bowling form and the same for everyone in our team. Everyone puts in 100% and are in very good form. Sid is starting to scare opposition batsman with his pace and we will use him as a strike bowler in the big games ahead.

Sid letting Ronic bowl at the end even though he could have taken a 7th or an 8th in his last over because Ronic hadn’t had a bowl yet was a very good thing to do for the team.

Thanks to all the parents who take us to the matches and to mum, Keith and Peter who coach and help us every week and also to Garry and Peggy who manage us. Also to anyone who has helped out with scoring this year.

Depending on the other results we are either in 4th sopt or just outside the top 4. We are on a roll and starting to play to the form that we are capable of. On our day no one will beat us.

Just checked the Club records and Sid's match figures of 10/7 are the best recorded 10 wicket in amatach figures ever by a Junior or Senior player in our 61 year history. Fantastic stuff Sid - we are really proud of you.
