Junior Boys Under 9 Sky Result - Round 8, 2007-2008

Sky Team 5 for 69 (Jack 26, Nam 10) beat Normo Warra – Green 4 for 54 (Shane 2 for 11) at Glenorie Park.

Jack’s 26 and Shane’s 2 for 11 guided Sky team to a nail biting finish on a hot day.

Sky team captain Aaron won the toss and elected to bat first, and opening pair Shane (2) and Thushira (3) managed 5 runs between them in the first 4 overs with a loss of one wicket.

The pressure was mounting as the runs were drying up, and the next pair Aaron (9) & Jack (19) slowly & steadily built the innings. The pair added 28 runs in their allotted 4 over without loosing a wicket, with Jack hitting 2 consecutive boundaries over the square leg.

The sky team was averaging 33 at the end of 8 overs and their fortunes suddenly changed after loosing 4 wickets in the next 2 overs. Sachin (8) and Darshan (5) contributed 13 runs in their partnership, an opportunity for bonus points were robbed by excellent catching and a run out from opposition.

Last pair Jack (7) and Nam (10) chipped in with very valuable 17 runs to end the innings without loosing a wicket.

Nam & Jack opened the bowling attack, were immediately rewarded with a wicket and only conceding 7 runs between them.

Darshan & Sachin, kept the opposition quite and given away just 9 runs in their spells. Then came the, Normo Warra batsman Josh to the crease and was the highlight, smashing 11 runs including 2 boundaries. Shane managed to keep his end tight and conceding 11 runs with two valuable wickets taken in his 3 overs.

The sky team pulled back into the game with Shane’s 2 wickets was still in danger of loosing the match, until Aaron managed to secure another wicket giving Sky team a victory on slightly higher average. Both teams played very well on hot day and credit to visitors on their excellent fielding.

Congratulations to Sky Team !!!
