Junior Boys Under 11 Blue Result - Round 7, 2007-2008
A tough game playing against the top side was always going to be a challenge. Added to this was a very slow outfield.
Bowling first we started off superbly – taking a wicket with the first ball of the match. We bowled well under difficult conditions. Darcy was at his best, taking 2/7 and fielding very well, Sid with 1/6 (4 overs), Zain 1/10 and John 0/6 (3 overs) all bowled well. Last match we had 8 batters caught. This week we bowled 5, 1 hit wicket and 1 run out.
A target of 3 an over was difficult against a good attack but we came close. Harry batted the best we have seen him for a while with a very good 15. He also hit one of the few boundaries due to the long grass. John also batted well for 24. While others did not score heavily they contributed through partnerships and having a go at the end of the innings.
John’s highlight
• We got close despite a very slow outfield
• Harry’s big hitting
• Darcy’s bowled really well.
Raj’s comments
Raj commented that he was just entering the results and looked at our points for & against - for runs & wickets. Our team has scored 816 runs & taken 45 opposition wickets.
The Opposition in total has scored 822 runs & taken only 37of our team wickets.
Despite this, we have only recorded 2 wins from 7 matches – incredible!!!!!! At best we could have been 4wins & 3 losses. The message is that we have been close but just not close enough so therefore we keep trying.
Next week
We play Hornsby, the top team at James Henty starting to 9.00am - weather permitting.
John, Raj and Ross
