Junior Boys Under 11 Blue Result - Round 4, 2007-2008

This was always going to be a tough game against one of the best batting sides in the Competition. Kissing Point were really good, allowing us to bowl first and bat on week 2 when we only had 4 regular batters due to a school weekend away commitment.

Week one saw us bowl. Kissing Point got away to a very good start – at one stage being 3/200 with 10 overs to go. They were looking at a big score but we came back strongly taking 5 wickets for 20 runs. Our bowling recovered well with Sid 2/11 (5 overs, Jack 1/13, Zain 1/13, Ben 1/11 and Jed 1/26 all did very well.

Our fielding was a little bit untidy but we also did some very good things with the outstanding work by Zain on the boundary that ranks as one of the best of a number of outstanding catches he has made. Well done Zain.

Week 2 and our turn to bat. We only had 4 regulars (John, Arjun, Zain and Sid). We had 3 players come up from the U9’s to help out and this was very much appreciated. We finished at 6/143 which was a brilliant effort given the circumstances. John scored 17, Arjun 7 but figured in a very good partnership of 72 with Zain. The game was played in very good spirit with Kissing Point allowing Zain to bat a 2nd time after getting out hit wicket early in his innings. Batting a 2nd time he scored 39 and hit the ball well.

John’s highlight
• Zain’s catch was the best this season and saved 6 runs
• Taking 5 wickets in the last few overs
• Our batting was really good on Saturday with only 4 of our usual team.

Raj’s Coach’s highlights
After a very slow start our boys came back in the last 10 overs.

• Last 10 overs we took 5-20 (Owen, Jack, Zain & Sid) played a major part.
• Zain's outstanding catch on the boundary again. Was going for 6 but both hands above his head held onto a another beauty.-"Unbelievable"
• Jonty's throw to Owen for a great run-out at bowlers end was copy-book stuff.
• Sid's 2-11 of 5 overs was best of our bowlers with Owen a close second with 0-10 of 4 overs.
• Catches were held by Zain 2,Harry1,Sid1 & Arjun1 was a great effort.
• Ben & Jack both bowled a batsman each.

Really proud of the boys how they came back & never gave up as they could have easily got 250plus!

This week
Round 5 this weekend we play Galston-Glenorie at Arcadia.
