West Pennant Hills Cricket – Under 9 Sky team v Upper Hills Under 9

The West Pennant Hills Under 9 Sky Cricket team had a resounding win at Ellamore Park, Dural against Upper Hills Under 9 team last Saturday, October 20 to remain undefeated so far this season. It was a resounding win with all players on the team contributing with their strong batting skills, accurate bowling and, at times, solid fielding.

The Under 9 Sky team was sent into bat first and Leon and Aaron set the opposition on the back foot with excellent batting. Leon hit a number of superb boundaries with his innings and Aaron kept plugging away with an array of shots around the wicket. Jack and Sachin were the next pair of batsmen that came to the batting crease and again, they consolidated the batting with excellent scoring shots which left the opposition in some disarray. Dharshan and Shane never let up with their batting and determination and Nam, Thushira, Brendan and Josh continued to bat strongly despite only facing only 2 overs each towards the end of the innings. It was an outstanding batting innings and all players displayed strong batting skills, even despite the huge number of no balls and wides from the opposing team. It was also important to note that the opposition did not take any wickets which indicates that our batting has improved considerably.

Dharshan opened the bowling with Nam and it became clear that we were not prepared to give away runs. In fact, out of all the 9 Under 9 Sky bowlers that bowled either one or two overs, it was clear that each player was determined to keep the bowling tight and secure. There were some wides and no balls bowled at times, but this was interspersed with excellent, tight and accurate bowling. The fielding was good at times and Brendan was unlucky to have 3 runs scored off one off his 1 over of bowling with some overthrows at the wicket by other players. Sachin secured a wicket at the end of the innings and this helped to give the team a resounding success.
