Playing our first match after the School holidays break we played a 1-dayer against the WPHC Whites at Campbell Park. The game went down to the 2nd last over and we just missed out in a really tight game. We finished up with 3/115 which was competitive but we needed to bowl and field well.

Darcy was great – he got a good 39 and John with 33* did well. Harry came in late to hit 14. Another 10 – 15 runs would have been useful but the White’s are one of the best fielding teams we have played so far.

We started off well and kept getting wickets to keep the game interesting. With 10 overs to go they needed 6 an over and the balance was our way but to their credit they kept chipping away. In the bowling Jonty got 1/7, Jed 1/9, Ben 1/15. We also had 3 run-outs with great fielding. The direct hits by Darcy and Jed were fantastic. There were also some very good attempts. The diving effort by Ben off John was brilliant.

We did a lot of things well but the crunch came with giving away 42 Extras – over 1/3rd of the total runs. If we can get this down a little then we will get back into the winners list. That said, we only had 10 players this week through holidays and with a full team back next week we will go much better.

John’s highlight
• Joel’s catch at gully was his best ever
• The 2 direct hits that got wickets
• Batting with Darcy was fun – he hits the ball hard
• Ben’s wicket keeping – he dived around a lot and saved a lot of runs.

• Darcy's batting display for 39 runs great application and John's 33 not out
• 66 run partnership between John & Darcy for 2nd wkt partnership.
• 3 great catches 2 by John and a screamer by Joel at gully.
• Both our wkts were "run-out"
• 2 good run-outs one by Darcy and a direct hit from Jed was superb!
• Good bowling performances from Bowling Jonty 4-1-7-1 , John 3-1-4-0 , Jack 4-1-8-1 & Arjun 2-0-4-0
• Amazing facts we only lost 2 wkts vs them losing 6 wkts (3catches,1bowled & 2 run outs) and we were one player short.

Next week
Round 4 next match we play Kissing Point White at Karuah in a 2-dayer. This is a really good ground.
