After our big win last week we came back to earth with a tough game against WPHC Green team. We batted first and after a good start struggled to 148 all out. A reasonable score but probably about 20 runs short of a competitive score.

We started off really well with Zain (40*) and Arjun (19) putting on 92 runs – beating the 91 from the previous week by John and Jack. They batted very well and setup the team for a good score. But the Green’s bowled and fielded well and we lost our last 5 wickets for 13 runs. The best after these two were Jonty (8), Harry (6) and Jed (5). Jonty and Jed put on 27 against the new ball when they opened the batting.

On day 2 we needed to get regular wickets but we just didn’t have enough runs. In the bowling, wickets were taken by Harry (1/6), Jonty (1/13), Owen (1/25) and John (1/13). The fielding was good with some very good attempts to take catches and cut off runs. All up, the boys did well and we can improve a lot.

John’s highlight
• Zain’s 40* was a really good innings with lots of 4’s
• The partnership with Arjun who put on 92 – our best so far
• The way we came back after they passed us
• Joel's bowling is gettuing better every week.

Round 3 next match we play WPHC White at Campbell Park in a 1-Dayer on the 13th October.
