We finally got on to play on a slow James Henty after the first week was washed out. This was the guys first game using a hard ball.

We lost the toss and batted first on a slow wet ground. We did really well and beat Kissing Point to show that we will be more than competitive this season.

Batting first, we scored 2/122 in 32 overs which was going to be a tough score to run down. Jack (12) and John (42*) put on our best ever opening partnership, scoring 90 in 25 overs to set a good platform. Their running between wickets was also very good. Then came Sid 10* and Ben with 7* who scored quickly with limited overs left to set up the score.

We bowled and fielded really well having Point 8/82 after their overs. Everyone did well. John took 2/2, Owen bowled fast and straight to get 2/10, Sid 1/5, Jack 1/6 and Darcy 1/13. We also took 6 catches which is a big achievement with a hard ball first up. Zain didn't get a wicket but he will be one of the quickest bowlers in the comp this year and his day will come. A big achievement from everyone was the small number of wides on a very narrow wicket.

John’s highlight
• Zain was the star with his 4 good catches, especially his 2 in one over and another in his next
• Our first slips catch by Harry
• Owen’s great stumping off Sid
• We only dropped 4 catches but took 6
• Getting monstered after taking a wicket.

Coaches thoughts
Stand-out highlights were,
* Superb opening partnership of 90 between John & Jack laid the platform for our convincing win.
* Zain with his 4 catches in which 2 were outstanding.
* Viran & Darcy's catches were solid & confident boosting especially as they field on the off-side.
* John was our MOM with his 42* & 2 wkts allround performance.
* Overall a great team performance as every player contributed especially in the bowling & fielding department.

Let's see if we can make it 2 from 2 against our arch-rivals WPHCCC-Green the team we played in the charity match & lost by only 5 runs next weekend,

Next week
Round 2 next weekend is at Cherrybrook Public School where we play Normanhurst-Warrawee.

For those who didn’t get a bat, next weekend they will get their chance when the batting order is shuffled around.
