West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930

Welcome to the West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club. Our Club was established in 1946 and the 2007-08 season was our 61st continuous year. We have entered now 615 teams since our first year!

Junior cricket within our Association (the Hornsby Kuring-gai and Hills District Cricket Association) is offered to boys aged from U9 to U16 years.

We have a proud reputation for promoting participation of all children over results. Our formal policy of 'Participation over Results' is worth reading and can be accessed via the website.

Juniors is also an important gateway to a lifetime of cricket enjoyment. Junior 'graduates' move through well run Age Divisions into a Senior all-age competition. Our A1 side for example has 7 players who started in Kanga and Colts have 8 Kanga graduates and 11 Junior players.

The 2007-08 season finished on the 8th March 2008 and it was our most successful year. We finished up with a Team in every Age Dvision Final and we won the U15s, U14s and U11s. We also won the Junior Club Championship for the 4th successive year.

In the U11's both Teams were from WPHC. To achieve these results in the context of our ‘Participation Over Results’ policy – a policy where team talent is evened and every player gets equal opportunity, is a remarkable achievement!

A written comment from a Parent involved in the U11 Final (March 2008) says it all “.....Yes to confirm what everyone else has said. The stats of the match ...showed it all that no one was over-bowled, everyone had equal opportunity to bat and everyone had at least 2 overs (against a quality batsman who must have been the best we have encountered).

We won because every boy has been taught to play cricket and has been given the opportunity to do so. A Champion team.”
