West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930

Welcome to the West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club. Our Club was established in 1930 and the 2009-10 season is our 79th season. We have now entered 662 Junior teams since our first year!

Junior cricket within our Association (the Hornsby Kuring-gai and Hills District Cricket Association) is offered to boys aged from U9 to U16 years.

We have a proud reputation for promoting participation of all children over results. Our formal policy of 'Participation over Results' is worth reading and can be accessed via the website.

Juniors are also an important pathway to a lifetime of cricket enjoyment. Junior 'graduates' move through well run Age Divisions into a Senior all-age competition. Our A1 side for example has 7 players who started in Kanga and our 2 Colts (U19) Teams have 16 Kanga graduates and 20 Junior players.

The 2008-09 season finished with the Finals on the 8th March 2009 and it was our most successful year. Season highlights are:
· 35 teams registered – a Club and Association record
· Despite our ‘Participation over Results’ policy that evens teams and gives everyone a ‘fair go’ we had 10 Teams competing in Finals with every age Division represented except the U11;’s who just missed out
· We ended up winning the U12, U13, U14 and U15 Competitions and runner up in the U16’s.
· In the U12 and U13 Finals both Teams were from WPHC

A written comment from a Parent involved in the U11 Final (March 2008) says it all “.....Yes to confirm what everyone else has said. The stats of the match ...showed it all that no one was over-bowled, everyone had equal opportunity to bat and everyone had at least 2 overs (against a quality batsman who must have been the best we have encountered).

We won because every boy has been taught to play cricket and has been given the opportunity to do so. A Champion team.”
