Seniors Results
A1 Grade Vs ARL – game starts on 26/9 when turf wickets are available

A2 311 drew with ARL 7/201 – rain stopped play with 5 overs left in the day that made sure of the 'result'. Just couldn't get enough early wickets! Suj Dissanayake with 2/32 bowled really well, supported by Rohan Dixit with 2/50 who looked very dangerous late in the day.

Colts Red 142 lost to Vs Berowra 149 – a really enjoyable game against the Berowra Fiedler’s, except for the eventual result. Rob Aitken (27) and Carl Madsen (37) set things up beautifully early for an achievable run chase but a middle order collapse increased the pressure on the lower order. Sam Croft (26) and Tim Anderson (21) delivered another opportunity but we fell a fraction short. Probably one that got away but it should be mentioned that a dump of topsoil on the ground following the first week's play made the area surrounding the pitch resemble a beach with the ball difficult to get away without going into the air. Despite the loss a very solid effort against a useful opposition.

Colts Blue Vs Hornsby 8/318 – scores to come

B1 7/223 defeated ARL 116 & 4/83 – starting the day at 2/92 Matt Thorndyke and Tim Worthington produced a steady start getting us past Asquith's first innings total. Tim eventually fell for 42, a great knock in his first innings for the Club. We then had a collapse losing a further four quick wickets to be left at 7/147. Matt produced a devastating 52 not out off around 30 balls including 10 fours and a six. Together with Matt T they pushed our total to 7/223 off only 44 overs - their partnership was an unbeaten 76 off only 8 overs! Matt T was the rock off the innings remaining 79 not out before unselfishly declaring to push for outright points. A couple of quick wickets to Ryan Cherrie (2/25) had Asquith in a bit of trouble early on before they shut-up shop. Scott Jobson was again impressive taking 2/3, however we put down a few catches which hurt our chance of an outright win. The game was called off in fading light/smoke with ARL at 4/83 off 30 overs. This was a solid effort considering we were missing our two regular opening bowlers this week. Overall a great start to the season with plenty of promising displays.

B2 194 and 2/98 defeated St Ives 170 – a thriller defending a modest score with experience seeing us across the line. Geoff Starr took 4/25 from 12 overs and great support from Geoff Richards 2/25 and Tim Starr 2/35. In the 2nd innings we did it comfortably with Adam Walter 40* and Tim Starr 39* showing the depth we have in this Team.

C1 228 lost to Vs Hornsby 282 – just not enough to run down this big score although we showed enough to suggest that we will be up there this season. Dinesh De Silva top scored with 55 with a lot of players chipping in – Ross A 33, Wayne Seabrook 32 (retired) and lots of 20s. With John Steel and Craig Hutchinson coming back it will take a very good side to beat us. In this case take out the 150 by a Hornsby player and that was the only difference.

C2 9/292 defeated Kenthurst 282 – a great result running down 282. After Kenthurst posted 282 last week we made a solid start with Russel Ingram scoring a quick fire 81 in the first 16 overs to set a platform for the second week. Chris Williamson played a measured innings, scoring 61 runs. Most importantly he occupied the crease for 62 overs to hold down the one end while Narendra Kulkani made 57 to get us to 258/5 before a mini collapse had us needing 24 runs with 2 wickets in hand late in the day. Up stepped Nikunj Patel who blasted 17 from 2 overs to get us across the line. A solid start to the season.

C3 284 lost to Kenthurst 7/355 – after a good start we had a very experienced Kenthurst side 6/176 at tea, and looking good. However, we ran out of legs in the bowling department & Kenthurst got away from us (& batted on to rub salt into the wound) to finish 7/355. Best bowler was Michael 'Kramer' Richards with 3/57.

D1
Blue 7/259 defeated St Ives – we got up in this game and scores will follow.

Red 9/288 drew with Normanhurst/Warrawee 5/216 – a draw after bad light and smoke stopped play. Notable performances with the ball were Manod Wickramasinghe 2/30, Chris Grima 1/32, Roger Friend 1/24. The team has come together quite nicely and most pleasing to see that whilst everyone is competitive, there is a vibe good team spirit coupled with fun and laughter throughout the first round. The Red’s field a higher percentage of older blokes that compete weekly for the “Young Gazelle” award. This week the honours go to David Behelevanas for a spectacular “body on the line” dive, (David has also earned the nickname of Mr Bales) and he was closely followed by Perry Waldron (also nicknamed the ManWall) for his ability to stop everything directed his way (above waist), and for taking a cracker catch at Gully.

D2 160 and 4/204 lost to Hornsby 204 and 2/15 - a great fight-back from us today put us right back in this game thanks to a superb unbeaten 88 from Ankit Grover and another solid opening stand of 58 from openers Sam Thariani (44) and Ben Pilipowski (37). Reaching 4 - 204 in our second innings we declared to put a depleted Hornsby back in for the final hour and had them reeling at 2 - 15 with just five wickets left in hand when the heavens opened (pitch darkness, thunder, lightning, torrential rain, blinding hail), finally driving us off the field with ten nail-biting overs left to play. At the end of the day it was Hornsby, not us, who had reason to thank the weather gods! Bowling honours for this match go to Ankit Grover (3-65 & 2-8) and Ben Pilipowski (3-45).

Maybe a loss on paper but this game has been a real confidence booster for us, proving that we can put up a fight when we have our backs to the wall and that there is depth and talent in this young team. We have a lot to look forward to in the season ahead.

Player of the Year
In Seniors, the Player of the Year this will be done by a 3-2-1 points allocation at the end of each match. From next weekend we will give a running total of the top 10 and their points until the last 3 Rounds. So this is one to watch out for.

Record day
Last weekend was a big one for records:

Last wicket partnership
Tim Leyshon is making a habit of being involved in last wicket records. Last weekend he (47) and Rohan Dixit 26*) set a Club A2 last wicket record of 76 the previous 73 run partnership by Greg Joyce and David Robinson way back in 1981/82.

Tim also holds the All-Grade Association 10th wicket record (scored in B1) of 156 runs back in 2000/01.

Highest score by a Junior
How about the first up effort of Lachlan Vile in D1. Lachlan is just 14 years old and scored 141 last weekend. This is the highest score by a 14 year old, playing Seniors, in our history. This beat the previous record on 96* by Matt Barr way back in 190/91 playing C1. Well done Lachlan.

Missing 10 runs
Spare a thought for Daniel Anderson (DA) – U15 Blue and C1. DA scored 102 in the morning for his first ton but it wasn’t known until after the innings when the scorers realised they had missed 10 runs. So going from missing out on 92 to actually scoring the big one after the Teams innings it will be a memorable milestone.

Got to have the Macca’s
Matt Scoular is fast developing a reputation as a hitter after taking 33 runs off an over last season. This time he scored 52 of 30 balls including taking out a car (Arcadia Oval). But good to see Matt has his priorities right coming in to bat at 7 wickets down – he had to finish his Macca’s before batting – mini batting collapse or no batting collapse.

Not even working up a sweat
Good to have Wayne Seabrook (C1) back playing for the chance to have a game with his talented son. Wayne last picked up a bat 20 years ago and wasn’t too keen on running between wickets to get to his automatic retirement score of 30. He batted for about 3 overs, scored 7 boundaries, almost cleaned up a few blokes with drives and all this without even raising a sweat.

Personal achievements
After each game this will be updated so that we can track these achievements over the season. A couple of big ones are coming up:

Simon Davies 84 for his 5,000 runs
Peter Heidegger needs just 6 for his 1,000 runs
Marco Delgado 27 for his 1,000
