Junior results
U16 Blue WPHC Blue 7/324 Vs Castle Hill 2/14 – just to one score this week so far. What an effort – Alex Rashleigh scored yet another to – 104 in just 13 overs, and Sahil Talpade 88. All up 338 runs in a day’s play. Brilliant effort folks.

Seniors Results
A1 Grade Vs ARL – game starts on 26/9 when turf wickets are available

A2 311Vs ARL – a fabulous start to the season by the defending Premiers. After being 9/235 we put on 76 for the 10th wicket. Amir Marzouk top scored with 76, Tim Rae 51, Lalin De Silva 43 and Alex Robertson 35. The highlight though was a 76 run last wicket partnership between Tim Leyshon 47 and Rohan Dixit with 26*. This was just 20 short of the Association A2 record set in 1970/71. It has though set a new A2 Club record beating the 73 run partnership by Greg Joyce and David Robinson in 1981/82. Well done fella’s.

Colts Red Vs Berowra 149 – there had been a lot of talk at the pre season training sessions about the bowling form of Carl Madsen and an expectation that it was going to be a big season for him as the strike bowler. He demanded use of the new ball and took his 'net' form to the game with a tremendous 4/16 off 14 overs. Parneet Bhatia added a handy 3/11 off 9 overs and along with Tim Anderson's 2/41, Berowra were bowled out for 149. A modest total to chase next week and should be achieved with sensible batting.

Colts Blue Vs Hornsby 8/318 – fiedling with 9 players was always going to be tough. Chris Milosevic was the pick of the bowlers with 3/38 with Peter Yeates unlucky to have a couple of catches dropped, and numerous times missed the stumps by millimetres. Mike bowled second best with great heart, and got a couple of early wickets too. After 20 overs, Hornsby were 3/54, and after 35, they were 5/158, then 7 for 241 and finished the day after 69 overs were bowled and it became too dark to play.

B1 2/92 Vs ARL 116 – Asquith won the toss and batted. Rowan Keating (3/14) producing an awesome spell of fast bowling, leaving Asquith on the ropes at 4/16. A fifty run partnership got them back into the game, before Scott Jobson (2/24) took a couple of crucial wickets to put us back on top. Asquith struggled their way to 116 with Andrew Joyce (3/20) taking two important wickets at the end of the innings, the last to an asbolute screamer from Rowan Keating. In reply we lost a couple of early wickets but are now 2/92 with Matt Thorndyke currently 44 not out, continuing his great form from last season. Tim Worthington in his first season with us showed some great hitting ability and is 27 not out. We are in a very strong position heading into next week with plenty of batsman to come.

B2 194 Vs St Ives 3/34 – we struggled early until some good batting from Mark Bennett (42) and Craig Hutchinson (33), to give us a competitive score. At 3/34 (Geoff Starr 2 and Tim Starr 1) the game is well balanced. An early wicket next week and the balance swings our way. Irrespective of the result of the game this side will have a big year.

C1 Vs Hornsby 282 – one of those games at a fast Campbell Park where runs come easily on one of the best batting pitches around. Their innings was dominated by a player who scored 150 who took full advantage of the 3 missed sharp chances. This innings aside, we did well. The bowling has depth will cause damage this season. Jaskaran Singh took 3/40 and did early damage but also John Steel 3/56, Andrew Watts 2/30, Dinesh De Silva 1/36 and Kishore 1/50 are quality bowlers. Fielding was average but the ground was very bumpy due to lack of grass and this made fielding very difficult. In the fielding, Wayne Seabrook took 2 good ones at slip in his debut match and Daniel (DA) took two very good outfield catches. Our batting depth is awesome so with a bit of luck this score is gettable especially on this ground.

C2 2/109 Vs Kenthurst 282 – this will be a high scoring game on a postage stamp sized ground. In the bowling, Jacques Visser starred with 4/42 did very well. In reply we are in a position to run this total down. Russell Ingram wasted no time with a hard hitting 81 that included 4 sixers and 11 x 4’s. Almost 400 runs scored in the day – says it all. A good start next week and this is game on.

C3 284 Vs Kenthurst – a good start with runs well spread. Pratah Sinnetamby top score on debut with 59 but with good back-up – Faisal Shamis 41, Michael Richards 35, Marcus Creais 32. The game was setup with a 102 run opening stand and we never looked back. With a good bowling attack we are in a very good position get a win first up.

D1 Blue 7/259 Vs St Ives – Good start yesterday, we got off to a fairly stable start, after losing our openers; Claudio & Vikas came in and steadied the ship. With a huge six into Mona Vale road that happened to miss traffic. Claudio ended on 26 & Vikas left the middle on 26. Vishnu saw the day out & was joined by Michael. I’m not sure who was seeing the ball better as they both looked in control. Michael left the field on a great 57 and Vishnu, was caught at the end on 91.

D1 Red 9/288 Vs Normanhurst/Warrawee – a very good start to the season with 14 year old Lachlan Vile scoring his maiden ton in seniors with 141 - the 339th in our history - well done Lachlan. He got good support from Marco Delgado 34 and Roger Friend 31. This should be enough to give us a good target to bowl to.

D2 160 lost to Vs Hornsby 5/186 – our openers, Ben Pilipowski (27) and Maisam Thariani (25) got us off to a great start putting on 50 for the first wicket which augurs well for the season ahead. Ankit Grover (top scoring with 40) and Bruce Caldwell (38) also delivered the goods, showing that we do have the makings of a decent batting side. In the bowling we struggled a bit with Ben Pilipowski the best of our bowlers, taking 3-45 and capping off his day with a blinder of a slips catch. We may have lost the first innings but there is a lot more cricket still to come in this game.

Not a lot of running
Got to hand it to Russell Ingram (C2). On a hot day, Russell had to bat second after the Team was chasing 282. In the short time he batted his 81 runs included 68 runs in boundaries – 4 x 6’s and 11 x 4’s. With 4 more games at Holland Oval it might be worth keeping a record of the number of boundaries he scores this season.

Eyes checked
Matt Dawson (A1 and Club Captain) sent a pre-season note out to all of his players asking that they get their eyes checked before the season starts – obviously something to do with last season’s fielding performances. Doing the right thing Matt, had his checked and now wears glasses.

First injury
It has only taken 1 Saturday and we have our first injury. Young Daniel Anderson (DA) from C1 came back to the Club after the game and managed to burn his tongue on a hot potato wedge. He might recover. The older blokes do not have this problem – a cold beer being the immediate relief.
