Round 2, Day 2, 4th October 2008
Junior update
The Juniors are on a school holiday break and return next week.
Seniors
A1 drew with Kenthurst. A case of wet day, no play, the end.
A2 2/33 drew with St Ives. No play was possible at Greenway due to a wet ground.
Colts Red 1/18 drew with Colts Blue 171 another washout for this delicately balanced game.
B1 2/72 Vs Normanhurst Warrawee 177 scores to come through.
B2 6/222 drew with St Ives no play possible at Campbell Park.
C1 9/355 defeated Castle Hill RSL 107 a submerged wicket did not stop the guys getting on with brooms, sawdust and a delayed start. Starting at 2.30 pm there was no stopping this talented side even bowling with a ball that resembled a piece of soap. Craig Hutchinson was the best with 4/25 from 11and he got very good back up from our other bowlers who shared the wickets. With 5 spinners, 3 quicks and a very strong batting order this side will be there at the end of the season.
C2 160 defeated Kenthurst 106. With rain pelting down at Glenorie 2 the boys waited until 1.45 pm. Chris Creais took a wicket first ball of the day, and soon we had them 5 down for not many. However they fought back well, and reached 6 for 100 before Taki Maneolis (U15) crashed through with 3 wickets in 4 balls. Taki finished it with another wicket, and they were all out for 106. Stars for the day were James Creais (2 wickets), Chris Creais (2 wickets), Brett Hawkins ( 2 wickets) and of course Taki Maneolis 4 for 10 from 4 overs.
C3 9/245 defeated Hornsby 152. After being 1/59 overnight we carried on with the job with the middle order showing our batting depth. Amesh de Silva backed up his 3/39 with 40, Peter Lees top scored with 55, Peter Heidegger with 47 and Michael Fahey with 36 made the result convincing. Well done to Amesh and Peter Lees who put on 104 for the 2nd wicket and virtually won the game with this partnership.
D1 0/22 drew with Berowra 208 no play at Bannockburn Oval was possible.
D2 drew with Berowra 278 no play possible at Glenhaven.
Always come prepared
Acting C1 Captain Kishore Rampersad should have been a boy scout always come prepared. After heavy rain before the game started he turned up with the score book (so the Oposition Captain could sign the book) and left the kit at home expecting the game to be washed out. When it became obvious that the guys wanted to make up for the surprise loss last match by pulling out all stops to get on, he had to go back home to get the kit. We got on, dismissed them in 2 hours and won with time to spare.
Watch the flash
Got to hand it to Gus Grima C1. A keen photographer, this match he brought the camera out while umpiring to get some great action shots (have a look at the Photo Gallery). As it was getting dark he was about to get another fabulous action shot until he realized that the flash was about to go off. Interesting decision if the flash did go off and the batsman got out but maybe next time.

Body Science Compression sports gear
BSC are Club sponsors. They provide compression sporting clothing to major sporting stars. Many NRL Clubs use BSC in preference to Skins. For every purchase, BSC rebate 10% back to our Club that is then used for development - training improvements, coaching and so on.
This product is especially useful for any player who gets niggles during or after games. It is also a very good idea for for Junior and Senior Rep players who have to back up on Saturday's/Sundays plus added training requirements.
If you are thinking about buying compression sports clothing then look no further than BSC - they are superior to Skins and the Club gets a benefit that goes back to our players.
The gear is available in black or white. If you need more information then please go to the BSC website on http://www.bodyscience.com.au/. The website also has a more complete listing of the compression gear product range and also sizing charts to help you work out the right size.
How do I get this gear
Bill Peterkin has kindly offered to be the link between our Club and BSC. All you need to do is to work out what you would like and let Bill know your requirements.
Bill can be contacted on 0488 110 942 or via email billstar@optusnet.com.au
