Tamworth trip
A combined WPHC U13 and U14 team was invited to participate in the Tamworth Cricket Carnival over the early New Year. This is a tremendous honour being invited into this major Carnival. The boys made such an impression they have been asked to come back again next season. We will get a write up and photos onto the website shortly so keep a watch out.
Kanga
A few years ago our Kangas were used in a Milo advertisement. Our photo gallery has a record of this fabulous day. We have now been asked to support an updated ad that will be produced in early 2008 so looks like some of our Kangas will get their moment of stardom. Stay tuned.

Fees
A reminder for those folks who have not yet paid their fees, our large Association bill is now due for payment. Your Captains will be approaching anyone with fees still outstanding. For Seniors these are $250 and Juniors $190. The early payment discount incentive of $20 has now passed. After this coming match priority for selection will be given to financial players. Thanks for your help.
Star on the rise
In addition to having a tremendous group of experienced players, our core strength as a Club continues to rest with our rising young stars coming through the Juniors via Kanga. The latest young player to make an impact is Michael Richards from the U15s.
After taking a Club record 7/2 (our best ever Club bowling performance for anyone taking 7 wickets in a game over 61 years!) in a morning game for the U15 Blues, Michael played C1 last Round. In this match he took 4/6 bowling his Off spin. This was first his bowling appearance in Seniors fantastic stuff mate.
Fast scoring another record
We have some amazing records of fast scoring. The record number of runs off an over by a WPH Senior player(s) is 30 by Ian Paterson and Roger Friend (D1) back in 2004 at Arcadia.
In A2 last week, batting sensation Ronan Barrett (A2) hit 6 fours in succession in one over to win the game. The match was played at Greenway. This is the equal 2nd highest number of runs scored in an over equalling the effort of man mountain, Martin Boon, also in A2, in 2006 (Greenway). It is also the first time anyone has scored 4 runs off every ball in an over. Well done Ronan.
No time to be nervous
C1 White had a ground change and had to race off to another venue minus a player who couldnt make it to the changed ground. Enter Daniel Fiedler (U14) to make save the day. In the words of his dad (Andrew himself a WPHC super star):
Thirteen year old Daniel Fiedler made his senior debut last week. Daniel arrived at Arcadia, jumping out of the car to bat, as our last man was just out. The poor kid had to quickly chuck his pads on and run out onto the field for his debut with absolutely no preparation whatsoever. Managed to make 1 n.o.. I asked him if he was nervous.....he said he didn't have time to be.
A Grade on a roll
Every team has stories of what has been/what might have been this season but just a brief one on A1 this season. After winning some good games and getting flogged in others they have fought back to now be in the top 4. With their full strength team now back in action if there are odds on offer back them to make the top 4 and if they do win the Comp take them. Well done fellas lots of character and guts to come back.

DCA website points table
Now that the season is well underway anyone can track how their teams are going in the Competition in Both Seniors, Juniors and Girls by accessing the following website: www.cricketnsw.com.au/hkhdca and then just go to WPHCCC and then your team.
Alternatively, just go to Links on our website and it is the first entry.
Probably worth locking this into your favourites and checking after each game for the standings.

We are privileged to have Peter Lees do all the website work for our Club. However, it is run by volunteers and we always need to involve others to share the fun.
