Junior Scores come through later but a special mention to Michael Richards playing for the U15 Blues against Mt Colah who took 7/2 – one of our best bowling performances in many years.

Seniors
Another rain affected weekend but at least we got a few games underway.

A1 V 87 lost to Normanhurst-Warrawee 6/113 – something unusual happened, A1 actually got on to play at The Glade of all places. Apart from Troy Newman with 19 and James Makin 15 there was not a lot of joy in the batting. In the bowling, Smokey Dawson with 2 wickets brought up his 200 career wickets. Welcome back to James Makin with 2 and Adam Walter straight with 2 wickets. Could well be a 10 point game – either way in this one.

A2 95 lost to Kissing Point 7/96 – in a slow scoring day at Greenway we were unable to build partnerships with only Sam Baidya top scoring with a gutsy 29. We made them fight for every run with some tight bowling, especially from Brad Hingle and Voice (on his return) who took 2 wickets. They got them 7 down, but unfortunately they snuck through with 2 overs left. Goes to show if we had a few more runs posted we could of taken this one, but we showed excellent fight in defending such a low total - a solid effort!

Colts 3/101 defeated Kenthurst 100 – in a 1-dayer this is a fabulous result trying to beat the rain. Nick Bennett did it yet again with 40* and was well supported by Taylor Paton 35*. Good bowling, with the wickets being shared amongst 5 bowlers ( Tim Scoular 2 for 2 off 6, Nick Bennett 2 for 4 off 1.5, Rohan Dixit 2 for 14 off 5, Tim Anderson 2 for 23 off 7 and Mark Bennett 1 for 24 off 8), saw Kenthurst all out in the 33rd over. Bad weather was always going to be a factor on the day and at 3 for 22 after 6 it was looking a bit shaky. Nick B and Taylor Paton then combined for an unbeaten partnership of 79 off 14.5 overs to get us home with the rain arriving about 5 minutes after close of play.

B1 Blue 110 lost to St Ives 132 – batting second in a 1-dayer, this is one we should have got closer to a result our way. Bowling first we restricted St Ives to a gettable score. Chris Rae 3/14 and Andrew McKinnon 3/6 were outstanding. In the batting, Scott Jobson with 31 was the standout but just missed out on the support he needed to get across the line.

WPHC Red 112 lost to Normanhurst-Warrawee 3/113 – another 1-dayer in the B1 Comp. Gav Hassett was outstanding with 35 but like the Blues didn’t have others kicking in to provide support. This is a tight competition so a turnaround win next weekend will put us back in the frame.

C1 White 3/65 Vs Ku-ring-gai Chase 265 – one of those games. After having them 5/40, 6/60 and 8/120 they got away big time with sustained big hitting from their tail end. Ben McNamara bowled very well to have Ku-ring-gai on the ropes early. We had 23 overs to see out and after a 16 ball opening from their opener gave us a good start. With only 200 to get and some very good players to come this is still within reach on a small and fast ground.

C1 Red 77 lost to Hornsby 8/95 – our worst batting performance of the year but a tremendous fightback with the ball has opened this game up. Take out Tim Starr (20) and Sundries (17) not a lot of cheer with the batting – for a change. Our bowling made up for this blip – Tim Starr with 4/18 was outstanding and with Geoff Starr and Sam Croft taking 2/17 each we are back in the game for 10 points. Watch this spot.

C2 165 Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee 0/38 – after winning the toss and batting we were for 165 thanks largely to the efforts of Ashraf Ahmed 84 and Peter Lees with 29. Three run outs didn't help our cause but we did fightback from from 5/29 and 6/57 so our score gives us something to get....Normanhurst are 0/38 in reply. Still a lot of cricket in this game.

D2 86 lost to Normanhurst-Warrawee 5/106 – the main highlight here was that we won the toss for the first time since Round 2. Batting first, Steve Keevy with 21 was our best. Bowling wise we stuck to it with our best being Shankar Ravi with his 3/34. Special mention to Alok Pradhan for taking his first wicket of the season. We are overdue for big batting effort so maybe next weekend might be the day. Good luck fella’s.

Bradman and a bit more
How about the performance of Nick Bennett, our Colts Captain this season. So far he has scored 390 runs in Colts and A2 at an amazing average of 195.00. To make this even more significant the Colts games have been on turf that has been rain affected in most games. Added to this he has now entered the Club’s top 10 bowlers of the season with 11 @ 8.18. Simply amazing.

Commitment
Every now and then we here about folks making a big effort to turn-up for games – Tony Hadley being the best known for his regular trips from China and WA. This time wel done to Adam Walter (A1) who arrived for his A1 game fresh off the plane from the US and taking 2 wickets in the process. Well done mate.

Internet usage
Some interesting insights into who uses our web:
• The number of hits continues to grow – this October we got 3,693 hits – 5 short of the all time record
• 44% of all hits are on Saturday and Sunday
• Our most popular pages are the News section followed by the Photo Gallery
• 9 people have actually done a name search on Craig Willmott – a legend mate - then again these might have been from you
• Apart from Australia, people from countries that have hit our website since September this year include:
o United Kingdom – 227
o US Government – 117
o Finland – 156
o China – 27
o Germany – 18
o Norway – 14

The mind boggles about the US Government – perhaps we are on some observation list as a potential terrorist threat – ooops – probably got another hit for mentioning that ‘T’ word. Or another theory, they have seen some of those ugly heads in our ‘Photo Gallery’.

DCA website – points table
Now that the season is well underway anyone can track how their teams are going in the Competition in Both Seniors, Juniors and Girls by accessing the following website: www.cricketnsw.com.au/hkhdca and then just go to WPHCCC and then your team.

Alternatively, just go to Links on our website and it is the first entry.

Probably worth locking this into your favourites and checking after each game for the standings.
