Seniors

A1 196 Vs Berowra 2/100. We have a bit of work to do here. Michael Volc Banner fired back to batting life 42 with Simon Smyth scored runs again when it mattered with 45*. Runs on the board always count so fingers crossed.

A2 146 Vs Kenthurst 2/28. One of those days. Not a lot to report on the batting with only Lalin de Silva scoring 33. Kenthurst are crawling along, scoring their runs in 18 overs so another match of using runs on the board.

Colts Vs Berowra - scores to come.

B1 Blue Vs Glenhaven 247 – a solid day at office with a solid but gettable target to chase. Andrew Joyce was again superb taking 4/45 with star bat Dan Moye (does he really bowl) taking 2/28 off 12 overs (well done mate). If we bat well, this is gettable.

B1 Red Vs Mt Colah – scores to come.

C1 White 250 Vs Galston-Glenorie. A very competitive score but we did it ‘ugly’. After being effectively 5/35 a 120 partnership between Michael McDowell (71) and Ross A (54) gave us a very good platform, then another collapse (3 for 2) and another big partnership of 80 between Nathan Fathers (45) and Kishore (33). This is a very good score against quality bowling that was straight and a swinging ball.

C1 Blue 7/116 Vs Kissing Point 137. Welcome to C1 (up from C3). This talented father/son team bowled superbly to roll Point for this gettable target after getting regular wickets. Great bowling from Geoff Starr (4-22), Tim Starr (3-28), James McBrien (3-35), and two good catches from Cam Jefferies restricted them to a gettable target. After stumbling we have fought back well and with James McBrien (25*) and Ben Lyttle from the under 16s (5*) next week will be a good fight.

C2 6/199 defeated Kissing Point 79. The quiet achievers of the Club – they just keep doing it. Jaskaran was brilliant in taking 5/6 with an equally impressive Isaac Malamel 3/24 carving them up. Peter Heidegger scored another good score with 65 and Richie Cuskelly backed up his 50 last week with another good knock of 37. Could be a 10 point result in this one.

D2 2/11 Vs Galston-Glenorie 274. A lot of runs but on a small and fast ground. Kedar Ballurkar bowled beautifully to take 4 for 46. Our other successful bowlers being Shankar Ravi (2 for 45), Bran Ramachandran (2 for 54) and team newcomer John Fraser (1 for 43), taking his first wicket in his very first match for the club (some, like Peter Westerberg take over 5 years & more than 70 matches to reach that milestone!!). A tough day awaits us next week, chasing a daunting total and facing what looks to be the toughest bowling attack we have yet encountered this year.

Grade changes
The Association has reviewed grade and player ratings and we have been affected with our C3 team being promoted to C1 with their points. They are now in 1st place. Other changes affecting our grades are;
• B1 – Glenhaven promoted from B2 to B1
• B2 – St Ives White promoted from C1 to B2
• C1 – CHRSL White demoted from B2 to C1
• C1 – WPHC Red promoted from C3 to C1
• C2 – Redfield Old Boys promoted from D2 to C2
• C3 – ARL White demoted from C2 to C3
• D2 – Kissing Point demoted from D1 to D2.

“Proving my manhood”
When discussing, with a very well known player in one of our lower grades, the likelihood of batting up the order and facing a tear-away fast bowler who threatens physical harm, the response about bating lower in the order (based on physical wellbeing) was ‘I don’t need to prove my manhood by batting higher’. When asked how his manhood had been proven I am still waiting on a response.

Thankfully it hit him on the head
Welcome back Craig Willmott who made his comeback to B1. Fielding at Gully, Craig managed to get in the way of a bullet cut shot. Rather than use his hands to catch the ball, Craig used his forehead. The ball hit was so hard that it was caught comfortably at Point. Good on you Craig, if the ball had to hit you anywhere thankfully it was the hardest part of your body.
