DCA website – points table
Now that the season is well underway anyone can track how their teams are going in the Competition in Both Seniors, Juniors and Girls by accessing the following website: www.cricketnsw.com.au/hkhdca and then just go to WPHCCC and then your team.

Alternatively, just go to Links on our website and it is the first entry.

Probably worth locking this into your favourites and checking after each game for the standings.

Level 1 Coaching Course
Full details are below. However there is only 1 spot left. If you are coaching a WPHC side or intend to coach a team we cover the $120 cost. So if you are interested then please move fast or you will miss out.

Seniors
Day 1 of Round 3:

A1 244 Vs Normanhurst Warrawee. A good comeback after a stumble last week. Troy Newman is becoming the quiet achiever with his highest A1 score (74) and good support from Amir Marzouk (58) Matt Dawson (52). Great to see Ben get a good 20 odd. We will need to bowl and field well but a very good base.

A2 0/5 Vs Kissing Point 225. Another solid performance this time with the ball. Steve Quanborough was the star with 5/74 from 19 overs but got great support from James Makin with 4 who is now edging closer to his 350 career wickets and a place in the top 6 WPHC bowlers of all time – just 7 away from the great Wally Howard (our Prime Minister’s brother).

Colts Vs Kenthurst – scores to come.

B1 Blue Vs St Ives – scores to come

B1 Red 225 Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee. Another strong performance with James Mielnik yet another good score (66), Andrew Mills 47 and Peter Taylor 36 who is becoming a run machine. Spare a thought for Peter Taylor who stopped a Millsy bullet drive on the elbow and will carry a reminder for the rest of this week. The downside for Millsy is that that was his 50 missed. We will need to bowl well but a very good overnight position.

C1 190 Vs Ku-ring-gai Chase 3/120. After a good opening start (80) we missed an excellent opportunity to build yet another formidable total. Good starts were made by Ross A (40), Nathan (33), Andrew Watt (22) and Sahil (21) but no one converted this into a big score due to good fielding and some bad luck. The Ku-ring-gai boys get their runs fast but also give chances so we are still in there but need the cards to fall right.

C2 7/239 Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee. These boys are the quiet achievers this season – their 3rd consecutive score over 200 with different players delivering each time. This time Richie Cuskelly got a good 50*and Faisal Shamis 34 set the platform to allow us to either bat on next week or close. Well done fella’s keep it going.

C3 2/68 Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee 157 – some early wickets and great catching (for a change!!) allowed them to finish on 157. Nine of the wickets went to catches with one bowled. And some first class catches taken by Nigel and James. Bowling honours go to Mark Bell with 4/17. Chris Creais and James McBrien got two wickets each. We had to bat for 21 overs in failing light. James and Mark opened with a partner ship of 68 - a great effort before getting out just before the finish. So with smart batting, we're looking forward to a first innings win next week.

D2 2/71 Vs Normanhurst-Warrawee 198. Playing + 2nd place Normo we bowled and fielded well. Star with the ball was Roger Friend with 3/17. Roger is now only 4 wickets off his 100 career wickets. He was backed up well by Claudio Van Blerk 2 for 28 and Bran Ramachandran with 2 for 49. In the batting Jon Van Blerk didn’t waste time with hanging around getting a rapid 45. It’s great to see this team staging a fight back after last week's drubbing, trading blow for blow with Normanhurst-Warrawee in a match that looks to be heading for a close and exciting finish next week.

Points table
Just a reminder that you can get this info from www.cricketnsw.com.au/hkhdca

• Colts – 7 points (=2nd or 3rd on quotient)
• A2 – 12 points (1st)
• B1 Red – 12 points (=1st also 1st on quotient)
• B1 Blue – 7 points (3rd or 4th on quotient)
• C1 – 16 points (1st)
• C2 – 12 points (=1st or 2nd on quotient)
• C3 – 12 points (=2nd or 3rd on quotient)
• D2 – 1 point (6th)

A touch of class
Got to hand it to our boys, bring a bit of summer heat on and something happens.

Dave Miezis
C1 batting star welcomed John Steel on the day with a less than memorable question “with a name like John Steel have you ever thought of being a porn star”. Not sure of the response other than Andrew Watt reminding everyone that John is a pool cleaner – not sure where this was heading but let’s leave it there.

Alex Connell
Alex, Alex, Alex…..The Connell name lives on in memorable on-field comments. The Big Unit (Gavan Hassett B1 Red) made an innocent comment about being a compulsive puller (of the ball). Enter Alex (who now has a girl friend, or did have before she reads this one). The young fella, in his own words now watches, reads, whatever, ‘more porn now than when he was single’ – the mind boggles.

Really sad
Chris Williamson (our young C2 Scottish not Irish batting star) has set a new standard for athleticism. While on the field he managed to pull a muscle. Unfortunately it was not done while batting, fielding or bowling but …umpiring – really sad Chris.

Personal achievements
Well done to Andrew Mills who brought up his 2,000th career run on the weekend moving him into the top 50 players over the last 61 years.

Watch the following big ones coming up:
• Matt Dawson – 8 off his 200 wickets
• Roger Friend 4 off his 100 wickets
• James Makin 70 to 3,000 runs
• Simon Smyth – 1 to 200 wickets
