The 2007-08 Season has now officially started – our 61st as a Club.

Umpires Training Course
One to note in your diaries.

Barry McDonald is running an Umpires Course for anyone interested in either knopwing the basics about Umpiring or getting a refresher. It is open to everyone – Junior Managers/Coaches, Senior players….

Details are:
• When: Wednesday 12th September

Congratulations
The Association recently elected 2 of our famous West Penno women as Patrons of the Association. Denise Annetts (Anderson), former Australian Women’s cricket great and Lisa Sthalekar (current Vice Captain of the Australian Women’s team and one of the elite world players).

Denise played for the Seniors and Coaches the U13 Blue side this year. Lisa played all her Junior cricket with us from U10s to U16s.

They join a distinguished short list of the Mayors of Hornsby, Ku-ring-gai and Baulhham Hills and two Life Members in this role. Well done ladies – we are proud of your achievements having 2 of the biggest names in World cricket part of our Club.

Kanga’s
So far we have registered just on 95 children – another excellent turnout. We have a ground capacity of 120 and these spots will fill up quickly so if you are thinking of playing then please let us know – contacts are on the Website under ‘Contacts’.

Girls
This year we will have at least 2 teams with more registrations still welcome.

Competition starts on Saturday 13th October running through to the 15th December. Games then recommence on the 2nd February until 1st March with Semi Finals / Finals played over 8th and 15th March 2008. This gives us 14 weeks of competition plus finals.

Junior boys
Not a great start to the season with rain affecting all matches. Next week, games will be played as 1-dayers. Details are:

Wet weather – procedures
For teams affected by wet weather match details are;
• Start time: 8.00am to 12.30 pm (8 overs in the last hour)
• Overs: 32 overs per side

Seniors
Wet day, no play, the end – an easy Round summary. All matches will be played as 1-dayers. Details follow:

Wet weather procedures
All matches that did not start will be played as a 1-day game next week. Details are:
• Start time: 1.00pm to 6.00 pm
• Overs / side: 35

It is most likely that it will be too dark after around 5.30 pm so suggest you move quickly between overs otherwise matches may well finish as a draw.

Good story but......
Got to hand it to Peter Westerberg (D2 legend) – the man who allegedly got blisters on his hand from rowing last year - he starts off a recent conversation by saying he had a great story about a player but then says he can’t tell me because it will end up on the website. It sure will and we will keep digging in true paparazzi style.

Personal achievements
After each match we will track the personal achievements of each player who has a significant personal milestone coming up. If you have one of these guys in your team keep a watch on the results so that they can be suitably recognised as the season progresses:
