West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930

June 2007

It is mid-Winter but the Cricket Season is fast approaching – our 61st as a Club. The main dates to look out for are:

Something is in the air
Matt Nolan
Our esteemed Seniors Director, Matt Nolan is now the proud sleepless father of another baby girl – Niamh (Neeve) Emily Joy Nolan who was born on the 15th May. Congratulations to Matt and Em.

Jon Burns
Just on baby’s congratulations also to one of our favourite sons, Jon Burns and his wife Marcia who had their first baby – Annabelle Sophia born on the 17th May.

Not sure what was going on here but August 2006 was the start of the cricket season when young men’s minds turn to…..

AGM
Our AGM is also coming up fast – the time when all the big decisions affecting our Club are made for the coming season. Details are:

When: Monday 16th July 2007
Where: WPH Sports Club
Time: 7.45 pm

Everyone is welcome to come along and either voice an opinion about next season or just catch-up with friends for a quiet drink at the Sports Club.

Registration Day
The big one – Registration Day for the 2007/08 season is not that far away. Details are:

When: Sunday 29th July 2007
Where: Cherrybrook Community Centre, Shepherds Drive Cherrybrook (just behind the Shopping Centre)
Time: 1.00 pm to 4.30 pm

This is the whole Club Registration Day – Kanga’s, Junior Boys and Girls and Seniors.

Updated Registration forms will be on the site shortly so feel free to bring them along on the day.

Seniors Presentation Night
The Seniors had their legendary Presentation Night at Castle Hill RSL in early May and as usual it was a fabulous night – a record turnout with 120 people coming along, players, mums, dads grandparents and ofcourse partners. We will be loading some photo’s on the website soon so keep a lookout.

Award Winners
2006-07 was another fabulous season – in all respects. Performance highlights are summarized:

Club Championship
Our Seniors won the Club Championship for the 4th successive year. We finished on 1932 points – ahead of Castle Hill 1737 and Kenthurst 1720.

Our Juniors finished second and just missed a 4th successive win due to change in the way the Championship is calculated.
