Past Premiers
The following list is a summary of our most recent Premiership wins by Grade. Good luck to those who can make it through to next weekend. In the Juniors though it is worth remembering that our Club policy is all about equal opportunity for our children so with talent spread and performances balanced, any team making it this far is an extraordinary achievement.
U11 – 2005-06 (WPHC Gold) – 5 Premierships
U12 – 2002-03 (Blue) – 8 Premierships
U13 – 2005/06 (Blue) – 7 Premierships
U14 – 1999/2000 (Blue) – 6 Premierships
U15 – 2005-06 (White) – 7 Premierships
U16 – 2005-06 (White) – 6 Premiers.
Seniors
A2 61 defeated Kenthurst 8/138 – a really important toss to win by James Making with the game played at a moist Turramurra Oval. In the 2 previous encounters against Kenthurst we have lost both games so this is a big turnaround. Super bowling by Matt Jobson and Michael McDowell with 3 wickets with Matt then backing up with 55* has put us in a very strong position.
Colts 63 lost to Castle Hill 6/112 – batting first on a damp wicket we struggled-all day, scoring our runs in 44 overs. Only Matt Phipson with 24 showed any resistance. A combination of poor shot selection and good bowling on Castle Hill’s behalf. We bowled well to have Castle Hill 6-79 but dropped catches late in the day for Castle Hill to be 6-112 at stumps. The game is not dead and buried we need 4 quick wickets next week to put a pulse back into our chances.
B1 Red 6/61 Vs Kissing Point 99 – a very solid performance against 2nd placed Kissing Point. John Steel starred with 3/30, Eric Junkkari 2/15 were our best bowlers. Still a little bit of work to do but with fine weather next weekend we should get the 39 to win.
B2 0/14 Vs Castle Hill 7 dec 190 – an interesting declaration leaving us with only 177 to get the win. Solid performances allround with Justin Paterson taking 2 wickets. We should get up in this one.
C1 0/0 Vs Beecroft 204 – a very good effort in a fluctuating day’s play. Andrew Watt and John Mitchell were the destroyers with 3 wickets each plus a good contribution by Kishore 2 wickets has put us in a good position. Still a bit to do but with 10 wickets and a powerful batting order we control our own destiny.
C2 122 Vs Thornleigh 0/39. Apart from Jeremy Foley with 26 and Senthu 20 not a lot to excite the scorers. They still have runs to get but we need to pull something special out to get the 10 wickets.
D2 79 Vs Normanhurst 7/48. A thriller is underway here. We won the toss and struggled to a moderate score but fired back late in the day. Geoff Starr carried us through the day, top scoring with 40, before becoming our highest wicket-taker with 3 for 19. Matt Thomas also chimed in with a great bowling spell of 8 overs, 5 maidens, 2 for 4. Clearly a great deal more cricket yet to come in this low-scoring game that is nicely poised to go either way next week but at 7 down 32 extra runs looks like a mountain. This one could well go into a 4 innings game.
What a turnaround
This time last year we had 7 teams in the Semi Finals and every team lost. This year we have the 7 teams again but are well placed to turn this around. Every team is still very much alive but at the risk of jumping the gun, we have at least 3 teams who are all but certainties to go through.
