Fees
With the season fast approaching a conclusion we still have some folks with fees outstanding. We are finalising the outstandings now but your assistance in paying your Captain if you are in this position would be appreciated. Fees are $230 for seniors and $180 for Schoolboys. If you started late in the season the cost is a simple pro-rata.

Girls update
The Girl’s restart their season next weekend.

Juniors
The Juniors are in recess until late January.

No competition for U9 and U10s.

Seniors
Day 2, Round 12 was played on Saturday. Results are:

A1 120 lost to Hornsby 199. After being 1/21 overnight we were looking good here. We are out of the running here for a Semi’s but with 2 games to go can still shake some of the top sides up.
A2 7/153 defeated Galston-Glenorie 6/152. A fabulous win over the competition leaders. Bowling first, Brad Hingle again did the damage taking 2/23 with Michael McDowell also taking 2. In the batting, Chopper Boon (41) and Leigh Van den Broeke (39*) got us over the line. This is a very important win. We now only need to win one of our last 2 matches to make the Semi’s.
Colts 125 and 9/71 defeated Normanhurst 94 and 3/45. The Scott Henderson show! A great win against 3rd placed Normo puts us more safely in the top 4. Defending only 125 a blistering 8 over spell from Scott Henderson (he took 5-11 after top scoring in our first innings) saw us secure 1st innings points. At 5-15 in our 2nd innings it was more a case of survival. Scott chipped in with 23 to save the day. We set Normanhurst a token 100 of 14 overs but they did not take up the challenge.
B1 Red 121 defeated WPHC Blue 5/198. The highlight was seeing Gav Taylor get his highest score of 78 (well done mate) and Nathan Orton 51*. The Reds are comfortably in the top 4. Let’s get that commitment level up – a few no shows / late arrivals on day 2 is not what a team needs at this stage of the season. Well done to the Blues for the way they played the game on both days – well done fella’s – you made a big impression.
B1 Blue Vs WPHC Red - scores above.
B2 146 and 95 lost outright to CHRSL 216 and 6 dec 70. Amazing! The B2’s were 34 competition points clear of 5th placed CHRSL and we managed to not just lose but do it in style. Despite the carnage, Adam Walter was superb. He got match figures of 11/128 (7/72 and 4/56) plus scored 64 in the 1st innings and 40 in the 2nd. This is only the 44th time in our History that a player has taken 10 wickets plus in a match and the first time it has been done twice in the one season! Well done mate. Maybe just one of those days from this powerful side.
C1 8/184 and 2/123 defeated outright Hornsby 131 and 171. A fantastic results from a talented team starting their run late. On day 2, Kishore starred with the ball taking 4/40 with Andrew Watt 3/41. Add to this Nathan fathers with 4 catches behind we needed 121 in 24 overs on a slow Montview. We got them in 18 overs with Nathan again starring with a powerful 58 and Kishore 32*. We are still out of the top 4 but just need to keep winning. Once there we will win the Comp.
C2 153 and 3/67 lost to Pennant Hills 245 – a loss but we comfortably avoided the followon. Phil Hando was our best with the bat with 31* in the 2nd innings. A win with the Finals fast approaching would be good tonic.
C3 96 and 151 lost to Berowra 7/185 – not a bad finish to what was shaping as a tough day at the office. Our best was Steve Baker who took 3/22 and top scored with 42.
D2 3/92 defeated Galston-Glenorie 89 – in the last of our 1 dayers we steam rolled the 2nd placed GG. Bowling for us saw Tim Starr 3/27, Mark Bell 2/6 and James McBrien 2/14 star. Our turn to bat and James McBrien continued his golden run with 34*. The lads are now well set up for a run in the semi’s – well done fella’s.

Hot heads – beware
We don’t have a problem with any serial offenders but sometimes we all can feel aggrieved by bad decisions and so. Last week the Association handed out a 6 match suspension to a St Ives A1 player for his “ill tempered display, when he continued a barrage of foul language toward a batsman, then decided to deliberately shoulder the batsman as he walked past during change of over.” The Captain avoided a similar outcome because he tried to stop the incident.

The message from the Association is that player misbehaviour will not be tolerated and that “all Clubs need to reign in their "hot heads". We, as a group, need to act consistently and not tolerate behaviour that goes beyond the Spirit of the Game.”Again, we don’t have a problem but worth remembering in those moments that sometimes annoy all of us.

Thinker at Telstra
How about this opportunity that Thinker Rae (A1) had last week. He I was lucky enough to play a game of cricket at Telstra Stadium yesterday on the pitch they use for the State game – the staff from Concord Golf Club Vs the Telstra ground staff. In the words of Thinker – “ the pitch was a belter, as shiny as a mirror, nothing like what we play on!! Suffice to say I bowled like I have been this season and didn’t get a wicket off my 2 overs, although I did hit 2 fours!!! Plus we kicked their arse....”

Thinker (Professional pitch invader)”

Message from a 'not so' old friend
Got a note from Mark Twohig – long term WPHC who went overseas a couple of months ago to go skiing and do all the things people normally do when they disappear for 12 months.

Even if you are one of the few who don’t know Mark check out his website to see what he is up to. http://mtwohig.spaces.live.com/

Hot tip for the Allan Border Medal
If you are watching the Allan Border Medal on Monday I reckon West Penno is in with a real chance of having our first ever winner at this level – Lisa Sthalekar who is the Australian Women’s Vice Captain and a Junior with our Club from U10 to U16’s. Go Lisa.

Points table

With the business end of the season now well underway we have 6 of our 10 teams in the top 4.
