Round 4, Day 1 (4th November)
Bradman Oval match
As one of the events to celebrate our 60th Anniversary coming up this season we have booked Bradman Oval for Sunday 3rd December as a Club Day. We are now going through an invitation selection list with the main criteria being those who have given service to our Club.
Girls update
Our Girls are also tracking very well. We have 2 teams this year (a B and C grade side). The first round has now finished with WPHC getting an easy win 0/80 (J Ridley 25*) over Gordon 9/79 with d Gosper 2/10. In C Grade our 4/62 wasnt enough to beat Hornsby 5/89.
Coach required
Folks we still need a 1 more coach for our juniors. This is for our Girls B Grade Team. The Girls are between 13 and 16 so if anyone is interested then please let Ross Anderson know.

Seniors
Round 4 started on the weekend and the Day 1 results are:
A1 Vs Kissing Point no a Grade got underway yesterday so we play a 1-dayer next week.
Colts Vs Hornsby another turf round washed out.
A2 Vs Berowra another case of wet day, no play, the end.
B1 Red Vs B1 Blue washed out and a 1-dayer next week
B1 Blue Vs as above
B2 161 Vs CHRSL 0/20. The first of our games that got underway in cold, windy and wet conditions. Caterson 2 was typically slow and difficult to score big Gav Hassett reckons it is worth at least another 100 runs. Peter Arnold with 44, Alex Connell 26 and Gav Hassett 26 were our best. A lot of play left in this game.
C1 5/35 Vs Hornsby Gold 172. A game of 2 halves. Glenhaven was cold and windy. Pat Nesbitt was superb with his best ever figures of 7/22 from 11 overs. This is the 123rd 7 wicket haul in our history. Chris Collits was also superb with 2/46 from 17 overs. We had to bat for 16 overs and didnt come to terms with the conditions. At 5/35 we still have Ross A and Kishore in plus other batsmen to come so a lot of work to do but always a chance.
C2 1/44 Vs Pennant Hills 174 a good result against a good batting side. Phil Hando with 4/28 from 16 and Marc Carnerio with 3 for were super. Our turn to bat and we are well placed with Craig Willmott playing a Calypso role with 17*.
C3 0/67 Vs Wahroonga 266 a good performance from the lads. Fabulous bowling by Chris Williamson with 5/35 kept the score below 300. With Peter Heidegger unavailable next week he opened and hammered 40. We are a real show in this one.
D2 238 Vs Normanhurst. A solid batting performance in difficult conditions. Mark Bell with 46 and Nigel Moore (45) with another good score to his credit did well. If we can close this one out we will consolidate our position in the top 4 so an important game.
Groundhog day
A funny thing happened the other day. I have been getting reports that our Club Chairman (Barry McDonald) and equally ageless Director Kanga were seeing practicing for about 90 minutes at the Sports Club nets. While Barry and John are Club Legends in their own right they are now long term Administrators of our great Club. Word is that they are in training for the Bradman Oval game fast approaching. What I dont know yet is whether they could get out o bed the next day. Why Ground hog day? It could easily have been a scene from 30 years ago same spot, same legends same skills!
Sharp as a bowling ball
To be fair, here is one about your kindly author. in C1 Grade yesterday Pat Nesbitt was on fire with his bowling. After Pat just took his 6th wicket, Ross A made the profound comment one more wicket to get 7. A brilliant and thought provoking comment.
Points table
While the points table is available team by team through the DCA website http://www.cricketnsw.com.au/hkhdca/ the summary position follows:
So far it is early days but of our 10 teams, 9 are in the top 4. Only A1 is outside the pack but they are a good side and will be there at the end.

Colts 9 (4th)
B1 Red 24 (1st)
