West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930

3rd September update

Key dates:
• 1st game next week, Saturday 9th September (Seniors and Boys)
• Girls and Have-A-Go October (details to be advised shortly).

Association news
The Season is all set to fly in Junior’s and Seniors.

Last Monday night the Association agreed to the following:
• increasing the number of overs for a 1-day game from 35 to 40 overs a side
• a $200 fine for forfeits with the team not being allowed to play until paid. The takeout – please let your Captain know asap of unavailability

Dural Park
This year we have access to Dural Park after many years away from this ground. This replaces Galston Oval. If anyone lives near the oval and is happy to either open or close the ground in the morning or afternoon then please let Ross Anderson know so that the keys can be passed on to you. If we can get 1 or 2 people to help out then the ground will be allocated as a home ground and be used by WPHC every week – a good incentive.

Masters Comp
The Association Masters Competition is about to kick off for another season. Players need to be 40 or over to qualify. Games are played on high quality turf grounds against many former well known cricketers – from Test level to Grade. If any of our more distinguished players or past players are interested in playing then please let Ross Anderson know.

Michael Clarke signed bat
The Carlingford West Public School P&C are holding a fete shortly and are auctioning a signed bat by Michael Clarke. If you are interested in bidding then please feel free to Stuart Harvey at northryde@packsend.com.au

Coaches required
This year we have 29 Junior teams and still need 2 coaches – one for an U9 team and the other an U15 teams. If you are interested in putting something back into the game then he is a great opportunity. Any senior player who takes on the role also has their fees covered by the Club. Interested then just let Ross Anderson know on 9476-0595.

Seniors
Selections
Teams will be selected next Saturday during practice. We will be selecting people on the basis of who has registered and who has turned up to practice. So if your schedule has been too busy to be seen then there is a big chance that you may miss out. If this is the case then please let your Captain know from last year know asap. Thanks for this.

Fees
A lot of folk have paid so well done. If fees have not been paid they need to be by the first Round – 9th September so please also keep this in mind. Thanks.

Sports Club Membership
We are very fortunate to have a long standing association with the WPH Sports Club – our gathering point after games. Every senior player qualifies for free membership but we just need to get the appropriate forms completed. These will be sent out during the week.

What to expect
Early next week everyone will be sent a note summarising what to expect for the first game and throughout the season. So all the questions you might be thinking about will be answered so stay tuned for this info.

Juniors
Teams have been finalised and should now have been announced. The draw will be announced this week and this will be advised by your Team Manager. Once the season starts we will also be able to advise practice arrangements so stay tuned.

Girls
Registrations can continue to be received right up to the season start and in some case beyond. Practice will also be arranged at a specific time and place closer to the start of the season.
