West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club Est. 1930
West Pennant Hills Cherrybrook Cricket Club was formed in 1930 and played in the Parramatta District Junior Cricket Association. After a break during the War years we reformed in 1946 as part of the Hornsby Kuring-gai Cricket Association. We are located in north-west Sydney, NSW, Australia. WPHCCC is one of the largest cricket Clubs in NSW with over 60 teams across all grades, including junior boys, girls (both 9 to 16 years) and non-competition Kanga cricket for under-8's. There are also many teams in the All age Men's competition playing from A1 to D2 Grades.

Club Origins
The big one first up. After many years of searching for details of our Club’s origins pre-HK&HDCA we have confirmed that WPHCC started in the Parramatta District Junior CA way back in 1930 – making us 78 years old this season. Full details are on the website under ‘History’ but it is worth a read.

Website changes
Grounds location
If you get a chance, checkout the Grounds section of the website. Thanks to Amir Marzouk and Peter Lees we now have one of the best ground location sites available. Using Google Earth with the ground history and stories added it is fantastic addition to the site. There are lots of stories and events and who knows, you may even get a mention.

On-Line payment
Yet another enhancement by Peter Lees is the upgrading of our on-line payment capability using the secure PayPal capability. We expect to get upwards of 30% to 50% of all Registrations online this year.

Code of Conduct
We have completely refreshed our Code of Conduct for all sections of our Club. It is on the website under the Seniors and Juniors sections of the website. While we have a very proud record of Club sportsmanship the standards are tougher and there are penalties for breaches. Any feedback is most welcome as it is a living document.

Sponsors
We are about to add another major Sponsor to our Club – Body Science. They are the makers of the compression sports gear that is worn by many of the top cricketers and the majority of NRL Clubs. More information will follow on this but this is an exciting opportunity for us to be involved with a company that plays with the big time professional sports stars.

Club News: June 2008 Update

Coming up
We are now only 7 weeks away from Registration Day and for the Seniors, just 8 weeks away from our first practice.

The major dates to look forward to are:
Annual General Meeting Monday 7th July at the Sports Club
Registration Day Sunday 27th July
1st Seniors Practice Saturday 2nd August
1st Game – Juniors and Seniors Saturday 6th September.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Details of our AGM are:
When: Monday 7th July
Where: WPH Sports Club
Time: 7.45 pm

It would be good to see as many people there as possible as this is where the big decisions for 2008-09 are made about how the season unfolds. The meeting usually doesn’t go for too long and this leaves us with a chance to catch-up on the season to come over a few ‘quiet’ ones.

Website
If you have a chance please browse of the website. There have been some fabulous innovations.

Grounds
Thanks to Amir Marzouk (A1) and Peter Lees these blokes have done a tremendous job in creating a Google Earth view of every ground we play on - under the Grounds tile on the index. Accompanying this is the history, a story and major achievements by WPHC players on each ground. Have a browse and see if you played in any of these matches or better still, if you get a mention. Going forward, we will keep a record of any major personal/Club milestones at each Ground.

History
We have one of the more colourful histories of any Club in the Association. The History part of the website has also been updated so, again, have a browse and enjoy reading about the people and events that shaped where we are today.
